We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Procurement Manager with profound procurement experience in (i) offshore wind energy – preferably in procuring offshore wind turbine generators (WTGs) – or (ii) alternatively in large construction/ energy plant projects. The candidate with a proven record of accomplishment will be responsible for the Offshore WTG lot in coordination with the WTG Category Manager and respective WTG Package Manager in a dedicated project. This role will report to the Head of Procurement Wind Energy in line management and to the Category Manager as functional management. The job holder will be part of a dynamic and target-oriented Project Team striving to successfully negotiate high volume construction contracts.

  • Execute WTG procurement strategies within dedicated bidding and/or development Projects aligned with the company's objectives and respective category strategies focusing on offshore wind energy projects.
  • Take the role of the procurement lead for the WTG lot in dedicated Projects and lead the communication towards the supplier’s project sales managers; ensure continuous alignment with the Project’s operations team and consider relevant life-cycle requirements.
  • Take responsibility within the Project Team to run all required RFI/ RFP/ RFQ/ ITT processes in alignment with the responsible Work Package Manager
  • Negotiate and finalize for dedicated Projects the relevant contracts, terms and conditions with suppliers in order to ensure competitive pricing (CAPEX/ OPEX), quality and timely delivery while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, project management, finance, and legal teams to ensure alignment and compliance with project timelines, specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Provide full transparency about the project’s procurement process, history and positive/critical developments and continuously align or escalate (if needed) with the WTG Category Manager.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within procurement processes, vendor relationships and cost-saving strategies
  • Report observations of upcoming market trends, technological advancements and industry developments to the Category Manager in order to allow adaptation and optimization of the generic and/or project-specific procurement strategies

Convincing profile

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in preferably Engineering or Legal studies, or related field. Advanced degree or certifications are a plus
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in strategic procurement, with at least 3 years focused on wind energy projects or similar energy plant sectors that results in a good technical understanding for the realization of large construction projects
  • Proven track record of successfully managing procurement activities, negotiating contracts, and building strong supplier relationships striving for the best solutions
  • You have a wide background of industry knowledge, a good understanding of current market conditions and the ability to understand complex interdependencies seeking for the best technical and commercial relevant solution based on a TCO (total cost of ownership)/ full life-cycle approach considering a 30+ years operational lifetime of projects
  • Strong communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams and stakeholders. A team player with strong co-operative and integrative skills highly engaged in negotiations and strive to contractually fix solutions in a very international environment with a monopoly/ oligopoly structured market setup
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data-driven decision-making and the ability to drive cost-effective solutions
  • You are fluent in German and English and have the willingness to travel

About the department

EnBW is a full-integrated utility with headquarters in Germany Baden-Württemberg. EnBW has set progressive sustainability targets for shaping the energy transition in Germany, expanding renewable energy capacity, and achieving climate neutrality by 2035. Since a decade we are investing several billion euros in renewable energies – in Germany and internationally. Four billion euros are set to be invested between 2021 and 2025, which means that 50% of the installed capacity of our generation portfolio will consist of renewable energies by 2025. Further investment plans until end of this decade are also set and to enforce growth in offshore wind energy in Germany and internationally.

In offshore wind we have been a driving force in the wind energy sector for several years and our project portfolio continues to get bigger. Currently we are in the construction phase of the largest wind farm in the German North Sea. Further we are developing three projects in the UK with a local partner for a total capacity of around 6 GW with a strive to further grow our pipeline within the next few years.

This position is preferably based in Hamburg or at one of our headquarters Karlsruhe or Stuttgart in Germany or in London UK.
