BW ESS believes that energy storage is a crucial enabler for the energy transition as the worlds electricity systems move away from coal and gas to intermittent solar and wind. The ability to store energy allows the bridge from when renewable energy is generated to when it is needed.

Erik Strms is the CEO of BW ESS. He resides on the BW Group Executive team and is a board member of several companies in the BW Group.

This role will support the BW ESS team and report to Roberto Jimenez who is an Executive Director at BW ESS and based in Zurich. Roberto joined BW in 2023. Prior to BW, Roberto was VP of Shells European Onshore Power business.

BW ESS is growing rapidly and requires an Analyst to help the investment team assess and scale the investment portfolio.

Responsibilities

The Analyst role will be based in Zurich, Switzerland. The role holder will be part of a tight-knit team of six colleagues: CEO, CFO, two Executive Directors, an Investment Manager, and an Analyst. It is expected that the BW ESS headcount will scale in line with the companys growth.

Role accountabilities

  • Analyse investor presentations and identify potential investment opportunities.
  • Use financial modelling to analyse company/project financial information and fundamentals.
  • Assist in forming the appropriate capital structures for a deal.
  • Support the team in securing finance for multiple energy storage projects.
  • Support the team to explore and obtain a broad range of capital sources, including co-financing solutions.
  • Analyse broader energy storage market trends and commercial opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree 2-3 years relevant work experience in a well-renowned global investment bank or consulting firm.
  • Must have had exposure to the renewable energy sector (not necessarily batteries).
  • Strong interest and aptitude for finance and valuation principles.
  • Highly proficient in Power Point and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organisational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Highly proficient verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Enjoys being part of a team.
