The department

You will be part of the larger global finance department with total of 85 colleagues across various teams, including Accounting, Controlling, Group Controlling, Tax, and Group Budgeting & Internal Reporting.

The finance department is responsible for financial management, planning and reporting, including bookkeeping, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance. Every quarter the finance department publishes a financial report.

Your new team

You will head up the Brazilian finance team consisting of four Accountants and one Controller, located in Copenhagen, Denmark and Recife, Brazil. The Brazilian finance team is responsible for the Brazilian entities and ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements towards company regulation, Tax (Direct and Indirect), VAT, bookkeeping, payroll, tax returns, HR administration and audits in collaboration with external stakeholders.

The team works closely with the Accounting and Controlling teams in the Headquarters in Denmark.

How you will make an impact

You are part of the leadership team in Brazil and you support your team to deliver solid bookkeeping and compliant reports for all the Brazilian entities. You play a key role in leading the local team and ensure an adequately competent, resourced, and motivated team within the area of responsibility. You support the business with financial tasks, building a bridge between finance and the business. You are moreover part of the supervisory and management boards in Brazil.

Key responsibilities include

  • You ensure timely, complete, and accurate bookkeeping as per local regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • You review and follow up on processes, such as payments for all companies, bank reconciliation, data input for bookkeeping such as revenue, loans and CAPEX/OPEX expenses, capital increase and company creation.
  • You provide appropriate financial analysis and insight to the leadership team on the financial performance of the organization and actively ensure optimization of procedures.
  • You ensure timely and high-quality annual, quarterly, monthly, and ad-hoc analysis and reporting to corporate as required by the Group.
  • You are responsible to support the budget process with information for regular forecasts to the team and external stakeholders.
  • You manage accurate local GAAP reporting in cooperation with external accountants and advisors assisting on TAX, VAT, local GAAP, etc.
  • You are main contact for external stakeholders with external accounting firm, consulting, auditors and coordinate all matters.
  • You work on continuously optimizing tasks and processes including participation in cross-organizational projects.
  • You lead the finance process for Purchase and Sales Due Diligence processes.
  • You recruit, retain, and develop adequate talent including appropriate performance management of the team.

To thrive in the role we imagine you have the following competencies

You are a strong relationship-builder with a solid financial toolbox, in particular within accounting and controlling. You are used to being a people manager and supporting team members in their work. Moreover, we would like you to have the following competencies:

  • You have 10+ years of practical experience in audit, accounting or finance.
  • You have 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • You hold a degree in Auditing/Accounting/Finance.
  • You have profound skills in local Tax, VAT, and other statutory requirements in Brazil.
  • You have excellent knowledge of local GAAP and preferably also IFRS.
  • You are fully proficient in Brazilian Portuguese (oral and written) and have good proficiency in English.
  • You are an experienced user of Navision Dynamics, Business Central, or similar ERP system.
  • You are an experienced user of Excel and consolidations tools, preferably HFM (Hyperion).
