The Head of Asset PMO at European Energy plays a critical role in ensuring the effective realization of projects across their life cycle, with a particular emphasis on bringing projects from a technical ready-to-build stage to a viable business case. This optimization of the technical and commercial aspects of a project typically takes place within a time span of 6 – 12 months before the financial close to construct the project.

This role encompasses responsibilities related to many different disciplines within project maturity assessment, strategy, portfolio overview, cross-organizational support, as well as preparation and facilitation of investment- and steering committee meetings.

  • Build up a new Asset PMO function in European Energy and lead a team of experienced employees
  • Maintaining a comprehensive overview of the business portfolio, updating it continuously, and supporting Country Managers in managing country project portfolios and reporting on strategy execution
  • Providing enhanced support to projects during the late development phase, emphasizing the overall management and execution of the project portfolio leading up to the Final Investment Decision (FID) and construction
  • In collaboration with Country Managers ensuring that project managers are executing asset projects effectively, at the right quality, cost, and time, and ensuring timely involvement of internal stakeholders
  • Lead the development and implementation of companywide standards regarding project quality and project execution towards FID (i.e., ensuring continuous application of the European Energy Project Management Model in all asset projects)
  • Prepare and drive Investment Committee (IC) and Steering Committee (StC) meetings, acting as a facilitator and timekeeper, and ensuring efficient decision-making processes
  • Progress and improve development processes and governance to enhance project execution efficiency
  • Assist in coordinating with other Line Functions and acting as a single point of contact for portfolio overview

What we look for

We seek an experienced, team-oriented individual with strong analytical and leadership capabilities, as you will be working in a high-paced and multidisciplinary environment. You find it motivating to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and you would like to drive change and tackle some of the biggest issues of our time in a changing energy industry.

The ideal candidate will have a background that includes some of the following elements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Law, or other relevant field.
  • You have full professional proficiency in English
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project management within the renewable energy sector, preferably in OECD countries
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects through the complex structuring phase leading to FID
  • Experience in navigating complex stakeholder landscapes and facilitating collaboration across different functions
  • Leadership experience in guiding project teams across a multi-functional organization
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to contribute to the improvement of development processes
  • Knowledge of renewable energy markets and regulations
