About the role

Local Unit & Position Description:

DNV is seeking a Project Manager to address the growth of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) renewable energy markets. The Engineer will engage with a wide range of customers and stakeholders, and will act as a key member of the global Project Engineering team, engaged in wind farm construction owner’s engineering services, coordinating design reviews, construction monitoring activities, installation and commissioning of wind turbines. The engineer in this position will have a highly visible role, involving in our APAC projects with support from colleagues in APAC and globally. The position will be located near wind farm construction sites.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Interface with a wide range of customers and stakeholders, such as Renewable Energy developers, Financiers, OEMs, EPCs, Utilities, Public Authorities, etc.
  • Support commercial activities with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals including scope of services, schedule and budgeting.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical papers or presentations.
  • Support Business development of DNV Energy System services in APAC.
  • Conduct turbine installation monitoring and inspections of projects to verify compliance with Work method statement and specifications.
  • Applicable code requirements and standards and good construction practice.
  • Review technical specifications, manage and review proposals, and support contract negotiations on behalf of clients.
  • Support Construction Management activities through monitoring/management of costs, progress, contract interface, and quality programs, and facilitation of construction problem resolution.
  • Write detailed reports of reviews and inspections.
  • Lead overall project management and customer communication as the primary point of contact for the execution of due diligence, LTA engagements and owner engineer services.
  • Leverage experience, expertise, and creative thought to perform and/or manage technical analysis for solar, wind, and storage projects.
  • Typical scopes include evaluation of project value through.
    • Review of key project contracts describing interconnection, revenue, construction, and operations and maintenance.
    • Validation of technical inputs in project financial models including assessment of energy generation forecasts, and construction and operating costs.
    • Review of project designs and technologies.
    • Operational evaluations including site inspections and interviews (both on-site and virtual), and review of operating history and asset management approach and Industry benchmarking analyses and development stage project screening studies.
  • Coordinate technical reviews among internal specialists including the civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology, and permitting teams.
  • Discuss and resolve technical issues in partnership with transaction stakeholders, including coordination of input on such issues from internal technical specialists, as necessary.
  • Lead the reporting process, including writing, editing, and synthesizing inputs from technical disciplines into technical due diligence reports.
  • Develop winning proposals for scopes of services related to due diligence work, including creative tailoring and sequencing of work to meet budget and timeline requirements.
  • Support in the business development of DD, LTA and OE opportunities for solar, wind and storage opportunities in Japan.
  • Support customers through the financial closings of projects through Q&A and deliverables updates.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts for the M&A team, such as tool development, process refinement, internal training, and lessons learned activities.
  • Prioritize QHSE considerations within the team to ensure safe execution and healthy work environment.
  • Adhere to the DNV system for quality management, including liaising with QHSE leadership on developing procedures, instructions, guidelines, and checklists in order to ensure quality of services produced by the M&A team.

About you

  • Bachelor’s Degree Electrical, Civil, WTG Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of electrical engineering design experience. Experience with large scale wind turbine installation, commissioning and O&M.
  • Commercial sense.
  • Excellent Customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven HSE mindset and demonstrated behaviour-based safety mentality.
  • Able to work independently, and make independent decisions when called for.
  • Able to work with a geographically diverse team, within the APAC region and internationally.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule and be able to keep in contact with international offices.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Must be able to use common personal protective equipment, walk over uneven terrain, climb ladders
  • Ability to walk over rough or slippery terrain as experienced on heavy construction sites
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather conditions on occasion.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
