Project Accountant

The Project Accountant supports a diverse internal client group with our North America & UK based partners and works closely with the Project Managers to complete new project set-up and additional related accounting processes. The Project Accountant will ensure consistency and accuracy with all tasks. The Project Accountant also completes monthly billing, accrued and deferred revenue journal entries, revenue recognition, government contract reporting and collections. This position reports to the Director of Finance.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Project Set-up to review and verify project terms are consistent with contractual agreements.
• Partnering with Project Managers complete monthly billing and confirm accurate invoicing to external customers.
• Confirm appropriate and necessary documentation is in place to support billing.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to determine what revenue can be accrued (WIP) and what should be deferred monthly.
• Provide customer service and develop relationships with internal/external customers and suppliers.
• Monitor accounts to identify overdue payments and conduct collection calls.
• Support other project maintenance, analysis and activities as directed.
• Responsible for the on-time, accurate delivery of assigned tasks.

Required Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree from accredited college with a degree in Accounting, and,
• 3 + years of Accounting experience, and
• Proficient working knowledge of MS Office suite of services, notably, Excel.

• Ability to work with people up to Senior Management level.

• Excellent communication skills; able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format to a variety of audiences.

• Self-motivated, organized, and confident attitude to work independently or effectively as part of a team.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients.
