Technician

As a Solar Project Technician, you will be responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar energy systems. Working closely with engineers, project managers, and other technicians, you will ensure that solar projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to renewable energy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Installation: Assist in the installation of solar panels, inverters, mounting hardware, and other components according to design plans and specifications. This may involve working at heights and in various weather conditions.
2. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks during the installation process to ensure that all equipment is properly installed and meets industry standards. Identify and address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
3. Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance tasks on solar systems, including cleaning panels, checking connections, and troubleshooting performance issues. Respond to service calls and perform repairs as needed to ensure optimal system operation.
4. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines for working at heights and with electrical equipment. Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards on job sites.
5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including installation logs, inspection reports, and maintenance records. Ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
6. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to coordinate tasks, troubleshoot problems, and ensure project deadlines are met. Communicate effectively with team members and provide support as needed.
7. Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in solar energy. Participate in training programs and pursue certifications to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in solar energy or related field preferred.
• Previous experience in solar installation, maintenance, or related field is advantageous.
• Strong technical skills, with the ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and wiring principles; experience working with DC and AC electrical systems preferred.
• Comfort working at heights and in outdoor environments, with the ability to lift heavy objects and work in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
• Commitment to safety, with a thorough understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to solar installations.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required, depending on the role and location.
