We are Tibber, the energy company that wants you to use less energy. Whaaat? That’s right. We’ll get back to that. Yes, we are by definition an energy company, but we’re more techy than most. How and why you might ask? Well, a third of our employees are actually working on developing products and solutions that can help you use energy in a smarter way and at a lower cost – all with the help of cool fancy tech. Good for our customers, their wallets, and the planet.

Our growth rate has been truly amazing, and still, we’re just getting started. With millions of smart devices connected to the Tibber platform (like electric vehicles and smart thermostats), we have one of the most unique portfolios trading energy on the market.

Job Mission

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant (m/f/d) for our German subsidiary! As a Senior Accountant, you are part of the Tibber finance team and will be playing an integral part in the growth of our global finance function. We are expanding our Berlin-based team and our ideal candidate is comfortable with both office and hybrid ways of working. The company has great growth potential, and there is an opportunity to take your career to the next level.

Some of your responsibilities (but not limited to) will include:

  • Closing and reporting. Responsibility for the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals preparation and analysis versus prior periods as well as budgets and forecasts. Cash forecasting and submission of VAT and other statutory tax declarations for the German entity.
  • Accounting policies/procedures. You will, along with the local Finance Manager and our global Director of Accounting develop policies and instructions to be followed by the German entity. You will ensure that group policies and instructions are adhered to.
  • End-to-end process ownership. You will develop, enhance and maintain control processes to ensure that accounting is complete and accurate. Coordinate the approval process for external invoices and employee travel expenses, making sure we have the relevant supporting documents, also for intercompany re-invoicing and reconciliations between entities.
  • System implementations. The company is in the process of implementing a new ERP system (NetSuite), and you will have the opportunity to work with the Finance Manager to migrate to NetSuite. You will work to automate the connection between upstream systems and NetSuite such as our invoicing and expense management tools.
  • Stakeholder management. We see stakeholder management as a critical part of our role in finance. We are looking for effective communicators who strive to work in a structured and transparent environment. You will play a key role in communicating with external stakeholders such as tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.

Ideal Profile

  • Qualified Accounting experience. Qualified Accountant in Germany or equivalent as a degree. Experience in working with compliance, audit, and statutory filings. Strong experience in inter-company accounting and a very good understanding of HGBs; solid IFRS accounting understanding is a plus.
  • Business acumen. Several years of hands-on accounting roles, with an increasing level of responsibility. Someone who has experienced accounting, consolidation, and reporting processes in a fast-growing multinational business.
  • Startup or Energy experience. As Tibber grows so do our processes, stakeholders, and responsibilities. We are looking for someone who thrives in a changing environment. Experience in the electricity or renewable energy sector would be advantageous.
  • Process and optimization driven. Solid understanding based on practical experience of core end-to-end accounting processes. There’s always room for improvement! So we are looking for someone who is motivated to automate and standardize where it makes sense to do so.
  • Accounting tool know-how. Strong knowledge and experience in working with and helping to set up different accounting tools as well as having helped with an ERP implementation. Experience with Datev and NetSuite would be beneficial.
  • Good communication skills. Fluent or native business German (minimum C1) and English (our company language); any other market language is nice to have (Swedish, Norwegian or Dutch).
  • Team player. Detail-oriented and able to inspire, motivate, and empower other team members to achieve our growth goals.

Get Ready For

  • Innovation. A way to change the landscape of one of the most important industries on the planet.
  • Growth. A possibility to learn a lot and push the barriers of what you think is possible, with the possibility to grow personally and professionally.
  • Autonomy. An autonomous and humble culture in a scale-up adventure.
  • Empowerment. Your voice matters, we are a place to work where laughter and support amongst diverse and inclusive colleagues is a guarantee.
  • Flexible benefits. Whether this is towards health, wellness, equipment, or other allowances important to you, we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
