Position Title: HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Executive for Solar Projects

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and Implement HSE Policies: Develop, review, and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures specific to solar project activities.
  2. Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct risk assessments for various project activities and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks. Regularly review and update risk registers.
  3. Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and codes of practice applicable to solar projects.
  4. Training and Awareness: Organize and conduct HSE training programs for project personnel, contractors, and subcontractors to raise awareness of safety protocols and procedures.
  5. Incident Management: Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, near misses, and environmental spills. Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  6. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans for various scenarios, including fire, medical emergencies, and natural disasters.
  7. Safety Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to assess compliance with HSE standards and identify areas for improvement. Ensure that corrective actions are promptly addressed.
  8. Contractor Management: Evaluate the HSE performance of contractors and subcontractors. Ensure that they adhere to project-specific HSE requirements and standards.
  9. Environmental Management: Monitor environmental aspects of solar projects, including waste management, pollution control, and resource conservation. Implement measures to minimize environmental impact.
  10. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of HSE activities, incidents, inspections, and audits. Prepare timely reports for management and regulatory authorities as required.
  11. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in HSE performance through data analysis, feedback mechanisms, and lessons learned from incidents.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor) are desirable.
  • Proven experience in HSE management, preferably in the renewable energy or construction industry, with specific exposure to solar projects.
  • Strong understanding of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to solar energy projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve HSE objectives.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and HSE management software tools.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
