We're on the lookout for a Land Acquisition pro to join our team and lead the charge in securing sites for our exciting renewable energy projects across California. We are seeking a successful Land Acquisition professional who will support our real estate work streams on multiple large-scale renewable energy projects, land campaigns, land acquisition and landowner relation efforts in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. This position will report directly to our Directors of Land Acquisition and work closely with the Development Team.

This role requires residency in the state of California.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support various aspects of the Company's land acquisition process, from site due diligence to negotiating and securing all aspects of site control including helping to resolve title and survey matters to closing site control agreements in connection with financing and construction.
  • Support the negotiation of complex land and site acquisition agreements (lease, purchase, easements, surface waivers, etc.).
  • Support the execution and gathering of site acquisition agreements, ancillary documents, and punch list items.
  • Support onboarding of new landowners into the Company’s payment and land management tools.
  • Function as ‘account managers’ for 30+ landowners after Option execution, coordinating real estate curative actions, Option Agreement Amendments, on-site access for contractors conducting civil/habitat diligence as well as Intersect Engineering and Permitting teams engaging with landowners on design, agreement compliance, and financial close documentation
  • Support and manage 3rd party land agents on multiple site control campaigns.
  • Maintain site control tools/trackers and provide reports on progress internally across the organization.
  • Manage and work with landowners and community groups to facilitate strong community engagement and foster good relationships with the landowners.
  • Assist in preparing and updating land acquisition budgets.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Managers, Director and VP Land.
  • Collaborate closely with the transactional legal departments with respect to obtaining site acquisition and project financing documentation in connection with transactions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate Management, Finance, Economics or other related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in real estate, management consulting, finance, or related industry
  • 1+ years of project management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a transaction
  • Independent and self-directed.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, iterative, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft suite of products - excel in particular
  • Familiarity with land/environmental policy/law/renewable energy.
  • Passionate about renewable energy development.
  • Familiarity with google earth, GIS software
  • Strong preference for candidates located in the vicinity of our projects in California
  • Willingness to travel

Physical and Sensory Requirements

  • Mostly sedentary work; using standard office equipment including: a computer, keyboard, and telephone.
  • Position requires travel to project sites and to landowner meetings and for company-wide meetups: ~10-20 weeks total through a calendar year.

  • Salary: $100,000-$115,000 base salary with 15-25% annual target bonus
