Team Lead Sustainability (m/f/d)

We are looking for an Associate Director to join our Property Advisory Services Team in Germany. As the Team Lead Sustainability your responsibilities will include team and staff development, delivery of sustainability consulting for a variety of projects and scales and acquisition of new work/clients. You will be based in Berlin** and can work partly remote through flexible, self-organized work.

This role offers you

  • Lead an established team of around 12 sustainability experts in Berlin, grow the team with new skills and expertise as needed, and further integrate the sustainability experts in the other locations (i.e. Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf)
  • Contributing to both service offerings, Advisory Services as well as Engineering and Architectural Design Services and proactively identify new business opportunities
  • Strategic development of the range of sustainability advisory services for external clients, as well as integrating them in Arup's multi-disciplinary teams, identifying market needs and legislation drivers
  • Client relationship management of existing local and global clients, as well as building new client relationships and business development
  • Continue the vision and priorities of the Sustainability Business Plan for the Property sector, in alignment with other sectors such as Arup's Science, Industry and Technology (SIT) and Infrastructure
  • Driving the continued growth and market recognition of the Arup Sustainability Business in Germany
  • Providing technical leadership to complex projects in the space of decarbonization, climate adaptation, ESG, sustainable finance and holistic sustainability strategies for the built environment at individual asset to portfolio / masterplan level
  • Promoting knowledge sharing skills and expertise in Arup, connect with the global network of sustainability practitioners in the firm

Your ideal profile

All career paths are different. We look forward to receiving your application, even if you don't meet all our requirements:

  • University degree in Engineering, Architecture or other fields related to the building sector
  • Technical understanding of energy, carbon and resources flows and well as principles of buildings physics and thermal behavior
  • 8+ years' experience leading teams in the sustainability sector
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and effective communication with clients and design teams
  • An independent working manner and an entrepreneurial intellect with high levels of creativity, engagement, motivation and conceptual skills
  • Very good knowledge of German and International sustainability requirements, legislation and market trends, i.e. GEG, CRREM, SBTi, SFDR/CSRD, EU Taxonomy, and the adoption of the various instruments or the European Green Deal for clients
  • Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
