Job Description

The Climate Reality Project was founded by former US Vice President Al Gore with a mission to catalyze a global solution to the climate crisis by making urgent action a necessity across every sector of society. We recruit, train, and mobilize people of all walks of life to work for just climate solutions that speed energy transition worldwide and open the door to a better tomorrow for us all.

Our global network totals more than 4.5 million people from more than 190 countries and territories. With 11 branches around the world, we support our trained Climate Reality Leaders and network. Our strategy is two-pronged: 1) grow the climate movement and build the political will necessary to adopt policy solutions through our signature trainings around the globe, and 2) harness our ever-expanding network in support of three key impact areas: reducing emissions, financing a just transition and promoting global climate leadership.

Position Summary

The Digital Specialist will serve as a key analytics and data support partner within the digital and communications teams. The specialist will help focus our impact, strategy, and fundraising with actionable insights, A/B testing, visualizations, and a clearly mapped user journey through the ladder of engagement. In addition, the specialist will transform complex information and ad hoc reporting into meaningful analyses for both technical and non-technical audiences for mobilization, fundraising, and major organizational moments such as trainings, global convenings, and key campaign days.

Reporting to the Digital Director, the Digital Specialist has no direct reports. This position is part of a union-represented collective bargaining unit. Wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment will be governed by the collective bargaining agreement between Climate Reality and the union.

This is a full time, non-exempt, salaried benefits-eligible, hybrid position, typically scheduled for 40 hours per week. The Climate Reality Project offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with staff working from our office in downtown Washington, DC at least two days per week to enable and encourage collaboration within and among teams.

The salary range for this role is $60,000-$61,200 annually ($28.85- $29.42 per hour).

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain reports and performance metrics to track and measure the effectiveness of digital and communications initiatives.
  • Transform data into actionable strategic insights. Track, analyze, and report on engagement and conversion campaigns on paid and earned media channels and track back to our user journeys.
  • Collaborate across digital, communications, and organization-wide to design A/B tests to optimize campaigns and user experiences to report out how to maximize engagement and conversions that ladder user up our ladder of engagement.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Produce meaningful data analyses, visualizations, and reports that demonstrate analytical results for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Manage data as needed, including performing clean imports, exports, contact merges, and other data management tasks for the digital team.
  • Support the development and drafting of campaign debriefs to evaluate engagement for mobilization, fundraising, and communications efforts.
  • Utilize metrics to map online user journeys, ladder of engagement progress, and new contact acquisition tactics.
  • Provide ad hoc support for major organizational moments such as trainings, activities related to our impact areas, major fundraising moments, etc.
  • Collaborate with fellow digital team members to perform helpdesk support.
  • Provide general support across the digital & communications verticals as needed.
  • Support and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our operations and enrichment of our culture, for example by serving on ad hoc or ongoing work groups, assisting with the onboarding and training of colleagues, and participating in efforts to assess, refine, and strengthen our culture and practices.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to manage and manipulate data, with proficiency in a variety of statistical methods, data visualization, A/B testing, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work successfully within and across teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail, working knowledge of quality control processes and procedures, and demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems independently.
  • Deep concern about both climate change, with a strong interest in putting their skills and abilities to use to help solve the climate crisis and create a healthy and equitable future for all.

  • Occasional domestic or international travel may be required, with reasonable notice provided whenever possible.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one to two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Professional experience managing and visualizing data in an advocacy environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with EveryAction/Bonterra, Salesforce, CIVIS, or similar platforms.
