About the Role

Kevala is seeking an expert to join its Customer Solutions team as a Specialist, Customer Analytics. The ideal candidate should be a passionate advocate for decarbonizing the grid and possess a minimum of three years of energy systems integration experience, with a focus on product delivery in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) based solutions. We are looking for a pragmatic and dedicated individual who resonates with our bold organizational culture while recognizing the complexity of managing client relationships.

What you will be doing

The Specialist, Customer Analytics is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of methodologies that produce analytical results and insights to address the challenges in the changing energy industry. This position includes using prototype tools for designing customer pricing options and customer facing programs, as well as forecasting customer behavior related to energy consumption and adoption of distributed energy resources (DERs). This position reports to the Senior Manager of Customer Analytics.

Responsibilities include

  • Support the design and implementation of analytics and methodologies using Excel, SQL queries, and/or Python scripts for project delivery and product development.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) using Excel, SQL, and/or Python.
  • Leverage databases for efficient querying and management of large energy datasets enabling advanced analytics for renewable energy technologies, rate design and/or customer behavior modeling.
  • Develop and update insightful dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings and inform client decision-making.
  • Support and collaborate on the development of functional requirements, software specifications, and other written internal documentation to ensure software-based solutions are well-designed to meet customer needs, as specified in contracts and scopes of work.
  • Ensure functional requirements and specifications are well understood by the software development team.
  • Perform research and analysis of advancements in DER technologies to enhance client deliverables, based on utility customer provided data types including by not limited to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
  • Drive consistency in approach and application of methodologies in both projects and programs.
  • Provide utility industry and analytical expertise to support project delivery and product development.
  • Support vision of the platform analytics capabilities, including productizing more common service offerings and developing the business case for new service offerings.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in Development, Professional and Advisory Services, and Product to integrate analytics capabilities into SaaS solutions, ensuring technical rigor and scalability.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Engineering or a related major is required.
  • Minimum three (3) years as a technical expert in utility analytics such as load or DER forecasting or program design / evaluation for electricity, gas, or dual fuel utilities (or other related energy analytical experience).
  • Direct work experience supporting research studies to develop new insights and data driven analyses to support client projects leveraging a mult-faceted software platform.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset, curiosity, and eagerness to learn.

Location

Kevala is headquartered in San Francisco, CA. A hybrid schedule is encouraged for employees hired within commuting distance of our San Francisco office. This position is also authorized for 100% US-based remote work for applicants based elsewhere in the US. The applicant must have current, unrestricted work authorization in the United States. This job is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Compensation

The compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $ 112,000 - $ 148,000, plus equity (stock options). This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors, including level, experience, and location. As you go through our interview process, our recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range and combine it with an equity package that reflects your excitement about joining Kevala.
