About the role

We're looking for a Cyber Engineer to join AGL's Cyber Transformation program and play a key role in strengthening and modernising our cyber security capabilities. This position sits at the heart of our security uplift initiatives, delivering engineering outcomes across Enterprise IT, Cloud Platforms, and the Secure Energy Data Centre (SEDC).

Working alongside Cyber Security, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure, and Operations teams, you'll help implement and optimise security technologies, improve threat detection capabilities, and enhance AGL's resilience against an evolving cyber threat landscape, including emerging AI-enabled threats.

Success in this role requires a collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and a passion for solving complex security challenges while working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Some of the things you'll do are

• Engineer, configure and maintain security technologies across enterprise, cloud and Secure Energy Data Centre environments.
• Enhance SIEM, EDR and monitoring platforms to improve detection of emerging cyber threats and suspicious behaviours.
• Operationalise threat intelligence by developing detection rules, dashboards and automated response capabilities.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, analyse findings and partner with teams to drive remediation activities.
• Implement and maintain secure cloud configurations across Azure and AWS environments.
• Support secure architecture, monitoring, access controls and data protection initiatives within the Secure Energy Data Centre.
• Contribute to incident response activities, investigations and security hardening initiatives across critical technology environments.

We're looking for people who have

• Experience in cyber security engineering, security operations or a related technical security discipline.
• Strong understanding of networking, operating systems and core cyber security principles.
• Hands-on experience with security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls, vulnerability management tools and cloud-native security platforms.
• Knowledge of cloud security practices across Azure and/or AWS environments.
• Experience supporting incident investigation, response and remediation activities.
• Understanding of cyber security frameworks and standards including ISO 27001, NIST CSF, ASD Essential Eight or similar.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
