System Engineer (f/m/d)
Design Statcom application for renewable energy sources in Erlangen, Germany. Evaluate project requirements, develop simulation models, and collaborate globally. Master's in electrical energy systems or business engineering required.
Due to the energy transition and the introduction of more and more renewable energy sources, the increased demand for reactive power, inertia and frequency stabilizing current contribution is necessary for the safe operation of the AC transmission grid. We need a system engineer for design of Statcom application with active power storage for FACTS installation. You will be technically responsible within the team of experts for the design and dimensioning of the main components of a Statcom. These components are e.g. the transformer, converter and the storage system. You will work in a collaborative environment with guided onboarding. If you want to start your career in energy technology after graduating and are you motivated to put your knowledge into practice? Then we look forward to receiving your application!
How You’ll Make an Impact

- Analysis of potential interaction between Statcom installation and the transmission grid
- Development and validation of calculation tools (Matlab) and simulation models for EMT simulation tools (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC)
- Conducting trainings and presentation of design results to customers
- Support for tender and project management with expertise in technical discussions and customer meetings
- Development of cooperation with regions worldwide and continuous improvement standardization of calculation tools, study procedures, methods, and processes in project execution including documentation of results
- Responsibility for the coordination of external partners and sub-suppliers as well as cooperation with regions worldwide
What You Bring
- Very good master’s degree in electrical energy systems or business engineering
- Knowledge of the components of electrical power transmission systems such as transformers and converters
- Preferred experience in the fields of calculations of high-voltage systems such as short-circuit current determination and in system interaction of high-voltage equipment with the electrical transmission grid
- German and English communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking; additional knowledge of Spanish is welcome
