Intermediate Design Engineer – Civil & Structural

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Intermediate Design Engineer to join our Civil & Structural engineering team, focusing on the design and delivery of substation infrastructure projects.

You will coordinate with internal teams, design consultants and review designs for construction projects and team deliverables.

You are able to complete complex projects with minimal support, providing technical solutions to problems and understand how your work impacts the team and other internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

• Perform, review, and approve substation civil and structural designs in accordance with Australian standards and Transgrid technical standards.
• Review designs prepared by external service providers for compliance with relevant standards and internal requirements.
• Provide technical input to resolve complex multidisciplinary issues.
• Manage design changes to ensure successful project outcomes.

About You

• Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in functional Civil and Structural design areas of transmission network substations.
• Working knowledge of Australian and international standards and Codes of Practice relevant to substation design.
• Knowledge and understanding of National Electricity Rules relevant legislation, policies and procedures applicable to the preparation of designs and specifications.
• Proficient in the use of engineering business systems like Bentley ProjectWise and design software, preferably Microstation, SpaceGASS, Slabs, Open Roads, Civil 3D, 12D etc to develop designs.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team and manage multiple priorities effectively.
