Job Description

Greater Gabbard is a well-established and strategically important offshore wind farm in the UK portfolio. Located around 25 km off the coast of Suffolk, the site comprises 140 turbines with a total installed capacity of 504 MW. It has been reliably generating renewable electricity for over a decade and continues to play a key role in supporting the UK's energy transition.

The asset is jointly owned by SSE Renewables and RWE, with RWE responsible for operations and maintenance under a long-term service arrangement. This role sits within RWE and is central to delivering safe, efficient, and commercially effective operations on behalf of the joint venture.

As RWE's General Manager, you'll take overall responsibility for RWE's operational performance - from safety and compliance through to operational output and cost control. You'll be expected to balance day-to-day operational demands with longer-term thinking around asset performance and value.

About the role

  • Take overall responsibility for RWE's operational performance of Greater Gabbard, including safety, availability, asset integrity, and cost control
  • Act as the accountable leader for all HSE matters, ensuring risks are actively managed and standards are consistently met
  • Oversee delivery of the operational budget, with a focus on cost discipline and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Shape and deliver the site's operational strategy, including initiatives to improve reliability, extend asset life, and enhance performance
  • Lead maintenance planning and execution, working closely with contractors and OEMs to ensure work is delivered safely and effectively
  • Provide clear leadership to a multidisciplinary team, fostering a strong, pragmatic, and safety-focused culture
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the asset owners, representing RWE in both operational and commercial discussions
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with partners, regulators, and key suppliers

Job experience and requirements

  • Significant experience in a senior operational leadership role, ideally within offshore wind or a comparable asset-heavy industry
  • A track record of managing complex operations and driving performance improvements over time
  • Experience working within a service or contract delivery model, particularly where multiple stakeholders are involved
  • Strong grounding in health, safety, and environmental management in regulated or high-risk environments
  • Commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets and delivering against financial targets
  • Confident leading teams and working across disciplines, with the ability to influence both internally and externally
  • A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience in engineering, energy, or a related field

An offer of employment in this role may require holding active or ability to pass National Security vetting to SC level. Failure to obtain and or maintain National Security Vetting to SC may result in the removal of job offers and or existing employment.
