Job Description

As the technological spin-off of Solar Impulse, the first electric airplane to fly around the world, the mission of H55 is to make aviation clean, safe, and affordable. H55 exists to accelerate this transition by building the certification-grade energy platform that electric aviation needs to scale, delivering energy storage systems that are predictable, provably safe, and trusted by authorities, insurers, and OEMs. Because in aviation, innovation only matters when it can fly.

At H55, you will work with a forward-looking team shaping the future of air transportation. Our team brings together experienced engineers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts who combine creativity, innovation, and strong technical expertise.

We believe that diverse perspectives lead to better engineering and stronger teams, and we are committed to building an inclusive workplace.

Your Role

As part of the Innovation Team, you will support the rapid development of new technologies by transforming engineering concepts into physical prototypes and experimental setups.

You will work hands-on to build, assemble, and modify prototype systems, collaborating closely with engineers across multiple disciplines to enable fast iteration and validation of innovative solutions for electric aviation.

Your work will directly contribute to early-stage development and the transition from concept to validated, certifiable systems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble mechanical and electromechanical prototypes for experimental systems
  • Support the development of test benches and experimental setups for early technology validation
  • Manufacture prototype components using machining, fabrication, and 3D printing tools
  • Assist in the integration of mechanical, electrical, and sensor components
  • Modify and improve prototype systems during development and testing phases
  • Troubleshoot prototype assemblies and propose practical solutions to improve performance or manufacturability
  • Support laboratory testing activities and preparation of experimental hardware
  • Maintain workshop equipment and ensure proper organization of tools and materials
  • Document prototype configurations and support iterative development cycles

Your Profile

  • Technical degree or vocational training in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, prototyping, or a related field
  • Strong hands-on experience with machining, assembly, and workshop tools
  • Experience with rapid prototyping methods such as 3D printing and basic fabrication techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD models
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic systems
  • Practical problem-solving mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workshop safety

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work on cutting-edge electric aviation technology with real-world impact
  • A collaborative, international, and purpose-driven team
  • Opportunities to grow into technical or specialized roles
  • A flexible and supportive work environment
  • An exceptional work location in Sion, Valais, in the heart of the Swiss Alps

You will have a direct impact on our products and on how we design and build them, working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-evolving environment.

We are building a team where diverse perspectives are essential to solving complex engineering challenges and delivering safe, certifiable systems. If this role excites you but you don't tick every box, we encourage you to apply.

Ready to help make electric aviation a certified reality? Let's talk.

H55 is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals regardless of nationality, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age. Employment decisions are based on skills, experience, and business needs.

We are committed to providing an inclusive recruitment process. If you require any accommodations during the application or interview process, please let us know.
