Job Description

The first generation of offshore wind farms are entering a new phase of their lifecycle. As the industry begins to address the challenges and opportunities associated with life extension, repowering, and eventual decommissioning, RWE is committed to developing a world-class decommissioning capability that supports the long-term sustainability of our global portfolio.

We are seeking an experience Decommissioning Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team and play a leading role in this journey. Working as part of a matrix team led by the Decommissioning Lead, you will help shape the strategies, governance frameworks, supply chain relationships, and delivery models that will underpin future decommissioning activities across the offshore wind business.

Working across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, you will support the integration of decommissioning considerations through the asset lifecycle, helping to optimise value, manage current and future liabilities, support regulatory compliance and drive innovation in end of life asset management.

This is a rare opportunity to help define industry best practice in a rapidly emerging sector and contribute to the next stage of the offshore wind industry's evolution.

About the role

  • Support the development and implementation of RWE's offshore wind decommissioning strategy, including governance frameworks, delivery models, standards and processes across the global portfolio.
  • Coordinate the evolution of future decommissioning capabilities, ensuring alignment across technical, commercial, operational and regulatory functions, and embedding decommissioning considerations across the full asset lifecycle.
  • Act as a key interface between internal teams and companies, including Offshore Wind, Generation and Nuclear, and where relevant external stakeholders such as regulators, joint venture partners and contractors.
  • Lead and support planning and delivery of decommissioning studies and projects, including contracting strategy development, risk management, and oversight of cost, schedule and performance reporting.
  • Support management of decommissioning liabilities, cost estimates and financial planning inputs, ensuring robust decision-making and business case development.
  • Develop and maintain strategic supply chain relationships, supporting procurement activity, market engagement and capability development within the emerging decommissioning sector.
  • Contribute to asset life extension, repowering and end-of-life planning, ensuring decommissioning planning is proactively embedded in the long term asset lifecycle decision process.
  • Identify and support opportunities for innovation, efficiency improvement and circular economy approaches, working with internal innovation teams and external partners to improve value and sustainability outcomes.

Job requirements and experience

  • Be degree qualified in Engineering, Marine Operations, Project Management, a closely related discipline, or have equivalent professional experience.
  • Have experience delivering complex engineering, infrastructure, offshore energy or marine projects, ideally including decommissioning, asset life extension or end-of-life asset management.
  • Demonstrate strong project management capability, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, governance and successful project delivery.
  • Be an effective stakeholder manager, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence across technical, commercial, operational, regulatory and external partner organisations.
  • Bring strong commercial awareness, with experience supporting procurement, contract management, supply chain engagement and business case development.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Possess excellent communication, presentation and relationship management skills, with strong written and spoken English.
  • Thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary and international teams, taking a proactive and solution-focused approach to complex technical, commercial and organisational challenges.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking, balancing long-term business objectives with practical project delivery while contributing to the development of an emerging decommissioning capability.
  • Be willing to travel internationally as required and undertake occasional offshore and site-based work, subject to operational requirements and appropriate safety training.

Advantageous, but not essential

  • Additional languages, particularly German
