Job Description

The Senior Director of Supply Chain Transformation is responsible for driving strategic transformation initiatives across the organization by aligning business processes, systems, people, and operating models for the Global Innovation and Development group to support growth and operational excellence across Fluence Energy.

This role serves as a strategic advisor, execution subject matter expert, and transformation leader, partnering with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, develop transformation roadmaps, drive organizational change, and ensure successful execution of critical initiatives. The Senior Director will operate across the end-to-end value stream, translating business strategy into actionable plans in partnership with Information Technology (IT) while building alignment and accountability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Systems Thinking & Business Process Optimization

  • Develop the organization's end-to-end value streams, business processes, data structures, systems, and operating model.
  • Analyze business operations as an interconnected system, identifying dependencies, bottlenecks, constraints, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Assess upstream and downstream impacts of proposed changes and facilitate informed decision-making across functions.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs and prioritize initiatives based on business value, organizational capacity, and strategic alignment.

2. Structured Problem Solving & Business Case Development

  • Lead complex problem-solving efforts by defining issues, assessing current-state performance, identifying future-state requirements, and recommending actionable solutions.
  • Assess people, process, data, technology, and organizational capabilities to develop and prioritize transformation priorities.
  • Develop structured decision frameworks to evaluate alternatives, tradeoffs, risks, and implementation considerations.
  • Develop data-driven recommendations, business cases to support executive decision-making.

3. Cross Functional Leadership & Alignment

  • Partner across Technology, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Service, and Finance to build alignment around transformation priorities and business objectives.
  • Build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization to foster collaboration, credibility, and commitment to change.
  • Facilitate discussions, navigate competing priorities, and drive enterprise decision-making on key initiatives with organizational priorities, budgets, and strategic objectives.
  • Influence stakeholders without direct authority to achieve desired business outcomes and sustain transformation momentum.

4. Leadership, Change Management & Organizational Alignment

  • Develop and execute change management and communication strategies that build buy-in and commitment to new processes, systems, and ways of working in support of transformation initiatives.
  • Manage resistance and stakeholder concerns throughout the transformation lifecycle.
  • Communicate effectively across executive, functional, and frontline audiences.
  • Drive adoption and sustainment of new behaviors to achieve desired business outcomes.

5. Program Leadership & Execution

  • Drive execution of transformation initiatives by establishing governance, accountability structures, performance measures, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Remove organizational barriers and resolve issues that impact successful delivery.
  • Monitor progress, assess risks, and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ensure transformation initiatives deliver measurable business value and sustainable operational improvements.
  • Ensure project and initiatives are fully executed with completed scope, schedule, budget, and quality.

6. Enterprise Transformation & Strategic Planning

  • Define, develop, and sequence transformation roadmaps that balance immediate business needs with long-term strategic objectives.
  • Translate strategic goals into executable transformation plans, identifying capability dependencies, milestones, and organizational readiness requirements.
  • Establish performance metrics and success measures to monitor transformation effectiveness and drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Monitor post-implementation performance, business adoption, and outcomes to ensure sustained results and continuous optimization.

7. Executive Advisory & Decision Support

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on transformation strategy, organizational effectiveness, operating model design, and business process improvement.
  • Provide objective, fact-based recommendations and constructive challenge to support sound decision-making.
  • Align steering committees and leadership teams around strategic priorities, transformation objectives, and organizational change initiatives.
  • Influence enterprise decisions through data-driven insights and business impact analysis.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience leading enterprise transformation, operational excellence, business process improvement, strategy, consulting, PMO, or organizational change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives in manufacturing, industrial, supply chain, engineering, or operations environments.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, ambiguous and hypergrowth environments, creating structure and alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience assessing organizational capabilities, maturity, and readiness to develop transformation roadmaps and implementation strategies that drive business outcomes.
  • Systems-thinking mindset with the ability to identify interdependencies, evaluate impacts and navigate complex business environments across people, processes, data, technology and organizational structures.
  • Strong IT, financial and business acumen, including experience developing business cases, evaluating investment decisions, assessing ROI, and balancing strategic priorities with financial objectives.
  • Proven ability to evaluate alternatives, risks, tradeoffs, and implementation considerations and translate insights into data-driven recommendations and executive-level decision support materials.
  • Track record of driving results through influence, collaboration, and stakeholder alignment without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated executive presence and advisory skills including facilitating executive discussion, challenging assumptions, building consensus and influencing strategic decisions through data-driven, fact-based recommendations.
  • Experience leading organizational change initiatives, stakeholder engagement efforts, and adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage executive leadership, functional leaders, and operational teams.
  • Experience working with enterprise technologies and digital transformation initiatives, including platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce, Windchill, and related business systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
