Job Description
The Chief Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing competitive and accurate cost estimates. The Chief Estimator will also oversee and mentor the estimating team.

Position Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead, and manage the estimating department for all estimates.
- Set standards for estimating templates and outputs for consistency.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and enter into computer estimating system, review computer reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Request quotes from suppliers for materials and equipment.
- Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes for completeness with established plans and specifications.
- Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages including subcontract work, equipment rentals, tools and suppliers.
- Prior to the issuing of formal bid packages, provide principles a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.
- After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with Project Management to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project.
- Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents.
- Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimate figures.
- Develop, mentor and train a team of estimators.
- Track bid results and maintain records of bids and estimates.

- Detailed – Ability to demonstrate patience and determination to generate consistently exceptional and standardized work product without errors
- Strong analytical skills - Ability to analyze available options of price, quality, service, and delivery certainty
- Organization skills – Strong organization skills to create and manage multiple document scopes concurrently while maintaining accuracy
- Time management – Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to ensure most critical deadlines are met
- Teamwork – Ability to work closely with other departments and external partners while maintaining a professional and helpful demeanor
- Communication skills – Ability to build relationships by effectively communicating with supervisors, co-workers, and external partners
- Computer knowledge – Proficient, if not advanced, in Word, Excel, Bluebeam, Outlook, Accubid and other estimating software platforms
- Ability to work with varying seniority levels, including staff, managers and external partners
- Sense of urgency – Ability to stress urgency for internal and external partners to meet deadlines
- Problem Solver – Ability to think of creative solutions to reduce cost and/or meet schedule
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
- 10 years electrical estimating experience, with 3 years in a leadership or chief role.
- Experience with Accubid estimating software
- Ability to understand substation, transmission and switchyard, energy storage and electrical design and components, their purpose and use
- Licensed Master Electrician or equivalent (preferred but not required)
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Familiar with Bluebeam and Live Count.
- Ability to keyboard 50-60 wpm accurately
- Word processing and/or data entry skills
- Proficient in English verbal communication skills, including professional telephone manner
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials
- Reliability, dependability and flexibility
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
- Requires frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 20 or more lbs.
- Constant finger dexterity and ability to see details at close range and at a distance, hear, talk, and possess depth perception
- Occasional climbing and carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working in high exposed places
- Occasional exposure to environmental conditions

Compensation Range
$167,068.00 - $222,200.00
