Job Description

Our goal is to make clean power accessible, to accelerate the shift to zero carbon power and transport.

We’re building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the uptake of more renewable power and accelerating fleet electrification, de-risking the transition to zero-emission transport at scale. We’ve been consistently innovative since we were founded in 2017, achieving major industry firsts and using proprietary software and data analysis to optimise operational performance for our customers. At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.

Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. Our rapidly growing company is looking for highly talented and motivated people to join us.

The Opportunity

We are looking to recruit an experienced energy asset management leader to take responsibility for our expanding portfolio of over 1.2GW battery energy storage assets. As we expand our portfolio across the UK, USA, and Australia, we are seeking an experienced asset management leader to drive operational excellence, optimise asset performance, and support our global growth strategy. With the UK’s largest and most complex BESS assets coming online in 2025-2026 and a growing international pipeline, this role is instrumental in managing the global expansion of our teams and ensuring compliance across all regions.

The Director of Asset Management will lead the management of our expanding global portfolio of over 1.2GW of battery energy storage assets. This role is responsible for the commercial, financial, and technical performance of these assets, ensuring compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will play a critical role in maximising asset value and ensuring best-in-class asset management practices.

A Taste of the Day to Day

  • Lead and scale the Asset Management team, overseeing recruitment, development, and retention of personnel across multiple geographies.
  • Implement best-practice asset management strategies to optimise long-term commercial and technical performance.
  • Develop and manage business plans, budgets, and capital projects to enhance asset value.
  • Establish and lead an Asset Maintenance team, defining and executing an effective O&M strategy to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
  • Ensure optimal contractor performance during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, ensuring all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure full compliance with HSE regulations, grid codes, power purchase agreements, planning authority requirements, and internal company policies.
  • Manage and ensure both commercial and technical compliance with contracts, warranties, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proactively manage portfolio risks, implementing mitigation strategies and reporting issues appropriately.
  • Oversee stakeholder reporting, including timely and accurate reports for investors, lenders, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and execute value-accretive initiatives to enhance asset profitability, presenting proposals to the Investment Committee.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, landowners, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with legal and delivery teams on due diligence for acquisitions and disposals.
  • Ensure that operational learnings are effectively captured and integrated into business practices.
  • Lead the development and implementation of ISO 55000-based asset management frameworks.
