European Energy is a rapidly growing green energy company committed to driving the global transition to sustainable power. We develop, construct, and operate wind and solar PV projects worldwide, and are leading the way in the emerging green hydrogen and Power-to-X sectors. Our core values-In it together, Trust and Courage, Ambition, Excitement, Inclusion, and Agility-are the foundation of everything we do and guide our journey toward a greener future.

Your New Team- In it Together

You will be joining European Energy UK Limited, a close-knit team of 25 dedicated colleagues primarily based in our Glasgow office. We foster a collaborative culture built on trust, open communication, and a strong commitment to knowledge sharing. In this role, you'll engage with various teams across the business, enjoy the flexibility to shape your responsibilities, and have ample opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.

Your New Role- Accelerate your Career

As Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining robust financial processes tailored to the UK region. You will ensure compliance with UK-specific regulatory requirements, manage monthly and quarterly reporting cycles, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and provide local support for the upcoming implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Your work will directly contribute to improved financial oversight and enhanced decision-making across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Control: Take full responsibility for the timely preparation and delivery of monthly and quarterly financial reporting and controlling activities for UK operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting deadlines.
  • Statutory Accounting: Maintain full ownership of the P&L and Balance Sheet for all entities, preparing audit-ready financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements across UK jurisdictions.
  • Planning & Analysis: Support the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts, providing variance analysis and actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • ERP Implementation & Optimization: Play a key role in the implementation and ongoing optimization of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, identifying process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and financial control.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with local project teams and HQ finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment on key reporting requirements.
  • Strategic Financial Insights: Deliver timely financial analysis, KPI reporting, and business performance insights to support executive decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners (auditors, tax advisors) to drive financial performance, transparency, and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent.
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). Candidates qualified by experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years in Financial Reporting, Controlling, Auditing, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, with experience in VAT, Corporate tax, and statutory reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP and consolidation systems-preferably Navision/Business Central, HFM, and/or OneStream.
  • Excellent communication and business partnering skills.
  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities with high attention to detail.

We Offer

This is more than a finance role-it is a chance to shape a new team, influence regional strategy, and grow your career in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

By joining us, you will benefit from:

  • A competitive package and benefits, including 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and a cashback health plan for you and your family.
  • Access to salary sacrifice schemes for EV leasing and pension contributions.
  • A collaborative, inclusive, supportive and international culture where you can grow, develop, and contribute to a profitable, expanding global group.
  • An entrepreneurial and agile approach to work-where ideas quickly turn into action, and trust in your abilities is a given.
  • A shared vision for the green transition, where everything we do, we do together.
  • Hybrid work options and flexible working hours to support work-life balance.
  • Social events, networking opportunities, and a yearly company trip to connect, celebrate, and foster a vibrant workplace.
