Job Description
Our mission is to secure a safe and stable climate by accelerating the transition to a thriving, just, and resilient low-carbon economy. We are widely recognized as an influential voice on climate issues, a trusted convener, and a credible source of expertise and analysis. We work closely with international climate negotiators; federal, state, and local policymakers; executives of Fortune 500 businesses; and a wide range of other stakeholders to advance strong policy and action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote clean energy, and strengthen resilience to climate impacts. C2ES is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization.

The communications intern works across the C2ES communications team and in close collaboration with staff throughout the organization to support publications, digital content, media engagement, social media, and events. You'll develop hands-on skills in policy communications while gaining exposure to a wide range of climate and clean energy technology and policy issues.
Major Responsibilities
- Assist in the editing and design of publications.
- Collaborate with Digital Communications Manager to monitor C2ES.org web content and recommend updates that reflect the latest climate news and policies.
- Research and draft blog posts and talking points.
- Support media engagement, including drafting press releases and publication rollout plans
- Monitor climate and energy news, drafting a periodic news roundup for all staff.
- Assist with C2ES social media efforts, including suggesting news stories to tweet, drafting tweets and posts on events and papers, suggesting images.
- Assist with C2ES virtual, hybrid, and in-person events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, public policy, marketing, environmental science, or related field. Those with equivalent experience in related fields are also encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with environmental and energy issues, climate change preferred.
- Great writing, editing, and research skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to work both independently and on a team.
- Knowledge of social media, graphic design, or website design is a plus. Adobe, Canva, HTML.

Internship type
- Preference will be given to local applicants. Internship can be local at our office: 1400 K St., Suite 1100, Washington, DC 20005, or remote from the following States: CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, OH, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NY, UT, PA, TX, VA, and WA. Full-time internship up to 37.5 hours
- Full-time internship of 37.5 hours per week during Summer 2026. Part-time internships of at least 22.5 hours per week/3 days per week can also be considered (following C2ES HQ office hours).
- Hourly Wage $20.00.
- Transportation stipend for interns working from the C2ES Office.
