In your new position as Mechanical Engineer in the Renewables Division, you will be a valuable member of the dedicated Mechanical Team whose mission is to contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical systems for offshore substations. You will have the chance to contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical systems for offshore substations, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation in demanding offshore environments.

At Semco Maritime safety is a core value, and in this role, you will contribute to maintaining and promoting a strong safety culture while delivering innovative solutions. Above all, your work will make a real change for the global energy sector.

Your place of work will be Kielecka 2 Street in Gdynia, Poland. The position is full-time, and you can expect to travel 30 days per year.

This is your chance to work on some of the largest offshore substation projects worldwide and contribute to innovative solutions driving the global energy transition.

Hiring Manager, Rafid Kajo

Your tasks & responsibilities

In this role, you will primarily work on EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) contracts for offshore substation projects. As a mechanical engineer, your responsibilities include designing mechanical systems, with a primary focus on emergency/backup power diesel generators and fuel systems for offshore substations.

Your tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Design, Engineering & System Integration: Develop mechanical designs and engineering deliverables in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, ensuring seamless integration with electrical, structural, and control systems.
  • Compliance, HSE & Quality Assurance: Ensure full compliance with applicable standards, codes, and regulatory requirements, while supporting and adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards in all activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Documentation, Procurement & Testing: Prepare and manage specifications, drawings, technical documentation, and procurement packages; oversee and sign off FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SAT (Site Acceptance Tests).
  • Cost, Hours & Execution Control: Manage cost, hours, and quality for the mechanical scope within assigned projects, ensuring efficient and reliable execution.
  • Stakeholder Coordination & Continuous Improvement: Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders; support tenders, troubleshooting, and technical clarifications; facilitate workshops and contribute to concept optimisation, lessons learned, and engineering standards development.

Your profile & qualifications

This role covers multi-disciplinary systems (e.g. diesel generator and fuel systems) and requires close collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines.

We are looking for an outgoing and positive professional who is passionate about renewable energy and wants to leave their personal mark on it.

To succeed in this position, we imagine that you have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a similar relevant discipline.
  • Experience from EPC/EPCI project execution, preferably in complex or large-scale engineering projects.
  • Experience with diesel generator systems and/or offshore projects, ideally within energy or marine environments.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as DNV, IEC, and ISO.
  • Professional communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
  • A strong focus on quality and safety, demonstrated through attention to detail and adherence to HSE requirements.
  • Proactive and organised approach.

At Semco Maritime, we create change. For people. For projects. And for the global energy sector. With us, you will join a community of over 2,300 of the most dedicated thinkers and doers in the energy industry who are driving real change and making their own personal mark on the global energy landscape.

So yes, working for us will change the energy sector - and may well change you too.
