We are seeking a Senior C&I Automation Engineer with extensive knowledge and practical experience across industrial automation, renewable energy control systems, power plant control systems, SCADA, communication networks, grid compliance, operational technology (OT) cybersecurity and electrical substation automation.

The role is required to support the increasing complexity of renewable energy projects, including Wind Power Plants, Solar PV Plants, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Hybrid Power Plants, electrical substations and future technologies such as hydrogen and Power-to-X facilities.

The Senior C&I Automation Engineer will act as the portfolio-level technical authority for automation and control systems, providing technical leadership, governance, engineering assurance and operational support throughout the entire asset lifecycle, including development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, optimization and life-extension activities.

If that speaks to you, we'd be happy to welcome you to our team!

Take YOUR part in #EnergySmart!

Your key areas of responsibilities will be

  • Taking responsibility for automation, control, communication, and monitoring system design, including grid compliance requirements, renewable asset integration, and coordination with other engineering disciplines and project activities
  • Providing technical expertise during project development, optimizing control system architectures, communication concepts, grid compliance strategies, operational performance, cybersecurity posture, and lifecycle value across Wind, Solar PV, BESS, and Hybrid Power Plant projects
  • Providing technical assistance during project construction, commissioning, and grid compliance testing phases, supporting contractors, OEMs, TSOs, DSOs, and certification bodies while reviewing submitted technical documentation and engineering deliverables
  • Delivering technical support during operations and maintenance, driving asset reliability, performance optimization, operational excellence, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and resolution of complex automation, communication, and control system issues
  • Maintaining relationships with OEMs, EPC contractors, system integrators, consultants, TSOs, and DSOs to ensure technical solutions are delivered in accordance with applicable standards, project requirements, cybersecurity obligations, and business objectives
  • Leading design reviews, technical evaluations, and engineering approvals, ensuring optimal automation architectures, communication systems, PPC/HPPC implementations, and full compliance with grid code requirements and operational needs
  • Representing the company in technical leadership roles during meetings and negotiations with TSOs, DSOs, contractors, OEMs, and consultants, supporting resolution of complex technical, compliance, integration, and operational challenges
  • Acting as a technical expert and advisor to Operations & Maintenance teams, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, technology integration, system upgrades, operational performance enhancement, and lessons learned implementation across the renewable energy portfolio.

Required for this position

  • University degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 8-12 years of engineering experience in automation, control systems, industrial communication systems, renewable energy projects, power systems, or related industries
  • Proven experience with Power Plant Controllers (PPC), Hybrid Power Plant Controllers (HPPC), SCADA systems, PLCs, RTUs, industrial communication networks, and renewable energy asset integration
  • Excellent understanding of grid codes, TSO and DSO requirements, ancillary services, control system architectures, communication protocols, and automation system testing and commissioning requirements
  • Technical expertise in industrial communication protocols and automation technologies, including IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, Modbus, OPC UA, and related industrial communication standards
  • Strong knowledge of automation system design, cybersecurity requirements, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support activities in compliance with regulatory and international standards
  • Strategic and results-oriented mindset, with the ability to analyze complex technical and operational challenges and communicate decision-critical insights clearly and effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with contractors, OEMs, consultants, utilities, and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and operational priorities simultaneously while delivering high-quality results in dynamic environments
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

In return for creating a more sustainable future, we promise

  • To take part in an unfolding energy transformation process to create a 100% green and secure energy ecosystem for both current and future generations
  • International team that is working on dynamic renewable energy projects
  • A hybrid work model (3+2) and flexible working hours
  • Extensive learning and qualification enhancement programs
  • Attention to physical and emotional health: wellness mentor initiatives and psychological support etc.
  • Additional paid days for health improvement, short-term illness, volunteering, and accumulated work experience.

Join a growing and increasingly international team of energy smart people united by a common purpose. We all play our part in creating a 100% green and secure energy ecosystem for current and future generations.
