We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support the VP - Finance in Melbourne.

This is a technical role ideal for a CA or CPA qualified professional with 5+ years of experience with strong technical accounting skills.

You will own the integrity of the books, month-end and year-end close processes, and tax compliance across our corporate and project entities. You will partner closely with the wider finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, and strong financial controls that underpin investment decisions across our portfolio of BESS assets.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

• Own the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts across corporate and project entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Perform and review balance sheet and bank reconciliations, including intercompany reconciliations across a multi-entity structure.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with AASB and IFRS.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payment processing; review and optimise AP/AR workflows.

Technical & Asset Accounting

• Own the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.

Tax & Compliance

• Own the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts across corporate and project entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Perform and review balance sheet and bank reconciliations, including intercompany reconciliations across a multi-entity structure.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with AASB and IFRS.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payment processing; review and optimise AP/AR workflows.

Analysis & Support

• Prepare accurate actuals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to enable forecasting, lender reporting, and portfolio performance analysis.
• Identify, document, and recommend improvements to accounting processes, controls, and system integrations between energy management platforms and the ERP.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and decision support to the Finance team and the wider business.

Candidate Profile

• CA or CPA qualified with 5+ years of relevant experience in financial accounting and close processes
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, consolidations, and tax regulations
• Experience managing payables, receivables, bookkeeping and payments
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and improve processes and controls
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (e.g. Oracle, Xero, etc)
• Experience working in a fast-paced growth environment
• Experience with complex assets or infrastructure project accounting
• Knowledge of industry-specific accounting practices and regulations
• Energy sector experience or interest (desirable)
