Imagine a future where you'll have a key leading role in project-level permitting and environmental due diligence.

Join us in this role as Onshore Permit Manager for the West region. As we do not have any West Coast offices, we have labelled the role being based out of Austin, TX our western most office. Please keep in mind we are willing to discuss fully remote opportunities for the right candidate. As an Onshore Permit Manager, you'll have a key leading role in project-level permitting and environmental due diligence during development of our onshore renewable energy projects in West Coast of the United States.

You'll be part of US Permitting and Environmental where you, together with your colleagues, will be involved in leading a range of environmental and permitting topics to support both renewable energy permitting and development. You'll work with colleagues in the United States and Europe, specialist consultants, and in consultation with regulatory authorities and stakeholders. As a team we value working together to secure the permitting needed for our renewable energy projects.

You'll play an important role where you

  • oversee, secure, and execute permitting efforts for renewable energy (e.g. onshore wind, solar, and battery storage) projects of all sizes and levels of complexity across various jurisdictions in the US
  • plan and align with the Development Directors and team to create a permitting approach that integrates into the overall project and organizational goals to ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget objectives
  • review and analyze environmental due diligence reports (including but not limited to Critical Issues Analysis, wetland delineation studies, wildlife studies, and other environmental documents)
  • work closely with the project team to evaluate, select, and manage consultants to perform field surveys, prepare technical analyses and reports, and permitting documentation
  • obtain all required permits and approvals by undertaking a commercially- and sustainability-focused approach ranging from initial greenfield site characterization to environmental surveys, and through permit preparation and compliance handover
  • manage projects that include NEPA development, biological resource assessments and constraints analyses, routing and siting, state and federal Endangered Species Act consultations, Clean Water Act Section 404 and Section 401 permitting, and cultural resource studies
  • proactively work with local officials, state and federal agencies, eNGOs, Tribes, and local communities to understand potential project impacts and to craft mitigation approaches in consultation with project team members.

To succeed in the role, you

  • hold a master's degree or equivalent experience in environmental science or environmental policy, engineering, construction management, natural resources, or another relevant field
  • have a strong understanding of environmental permitting and assessment activities, including conditional/special use permits, state siting board permits, and federal permits such as EA/EIS, CWA, and ESA incidental take permits
  • have at least 5 years of experience permitting large scale onshore renewable development projects with experience navigating zoning, permitting, and environmental and noise analysis
  • have experience preparing consultation plans, balance stakeholder needs, and working closely with federal, state, and local agencies such as BLM, USFWS, USACE, DOT, and others
  • communicate technical and scientific information to key stakeholders with ease, both internally and externally
  • are ambitious, curious, and able to build trust and credibility, externally as well as internally, through experience, empathy, and persuasiveness of arguments
  • speak and write English fluently and have strong Microsoft Office suite skills, especially MS PowerPoint.

Maybe you've read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don't quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
