Job Description
Moment Energy is seeking an R&D Test Technician to join our Validation & Verification team and support the testing and development of our battery energy storage systems.
In this role, you'll work alongside Design and Test Engineers to set up, instrument, and execute developmental tests on prototypes, power systems, and battery components. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers and senior technicians, you'll gain hands-on experience operating specialized test equipment, collecting and documenting test data, and supporting prototype development.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate or junior engineer who is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to build a career in product development, testing, and validation within the clean energy industry.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Apply sensors, including thermocouples, RTDs, and simple strain gauges, to prototype systems and route signals to Data Acquisition (DAQ) units.
- Run pre-defined test scripts using battery cyclers, environmental chambers, and mechanical test fixtures under supervision.
- Perform basic soldering, wire crimping, and assembly modifications on early-stage prototype boards and mechanical chassis.
- Collect, organize, and document raw test data in engineering databases while recording test observations and physical anomalies.
The Candidate
We're looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:
- Completed a 2-year College Diploma in Electronics, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering Technology, or a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Recent graduates and junior engineers seeking hands-on laboratory, testing, and product development experience are encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, power supplies, and other basic electrical test equipment.
- Comfortable using standard hand tools and performing basic soldering, wire crimping, and mechanical assembly tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately collect, organize, and document test data.
- Strong curiosity, analytical thinking, and a desire to understand how products perform and why failures occur.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe laboratory environment and following established testing procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with a willingness to learn from experienced engineers and technicians.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience working in an engineering laboratory, research environment, or academic capstone project involving testing or prototyping.
- Familiarity with Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems, environmental chambers, battery cyclers, or mechanical testing equipment.
- Exposure to lithium-ion batteries, battery energy storage systems (BESS), power electronics, or renewable energy technologies.
- Experience supporting prototype assembly, validation, or verification activities.
- Basic understanding of engineering documentation, test reports, or technical data analysis.
Why join us?
- Today, we're delivering 5x the energy density and have all the certifications needed to ship energy independence to the world.
- Be part of a mission-driven company focused on creating sustainable energy solutions and making a positive impact on the world.
- Collaborate closely with passionate co-founders and a team committed to innovation and excellence.
- Contribute to building and scaling a company from the ground up, where your work will have a direct and meaningful impact.
- Thrive in a workplace that values collaboration, wellness, and celebrating successes, with regular company socials, fitness sessions, and more.

Safety is our Foundation
We prioritize the safety of our products, customers, employees, and the general public above all else. From the workshop to the field, we maintain the highest standards for our batteries in testing manufacturing and deployment, and daily operations. Safety is not only about procedures-it is about vigilance, responsibility, and speaking up when something does not feel right.
Safety is everyone's responsibility. We follow safety protocols, use proper equipment, and continuously improve our systems to prevent risks before they occur. If something is unsafe, we stop work and address it.
Safety also means protecting our colleagues, customers, and communities by designing reliable products, maintaining safe workspaces, and ensuring our work is done carefully and responsibly.
We're Building a Greener Future Together:
We infuse passion for our cleantech mission into every aspect of our work and incorporate fun into the workplace. We motivate one another, celebrate our successes and embrace eco-friendly practices to reduce our carbon footprint.

We Think and Act like Owners:
We're self-starters that proactively embrace new challenges along with personal and collective ownership of responsibilities in the organization. We focus on growth, not titles, and we do what needs to be done.
We Treat Everyone with Respect:
We actively listen, share openly, and work together towards common goals. We treat one another with mutual respect to cultivate an inclusive environment where everyone feels accepted, supported, and heard. We keep an open mind and are willing to learn.
