Job Description
As a Financial Portfolio Analyst, you will play a critical role in the financial management of our renewable energy IPP portfolio. You will be responsible for the commercial and business case development of the portfolio, financial tracking, asset optimisation and market research activities. You will work closely with senior IPP portfolio management, regional asset management teams, and other departments across the BayWa r.e. Group. Your focus will be on ensuring that the assets are financially well managed with up-to-date market-based analysis, supporting the translation of the asset financial modelling into a long-term value creating portfolio.
What you will do
- You will use best practice financial models and analysis tools to evaluate operational onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage projects as well as other business development activities in terms of costs and value.
- You are responsible for the financial tracking of a large portfolio of international renewable energy assets to support investment decision making.
- You will manage an internal database of project benchmarks to assist with cross checking and evaluation, working alongside centralised teams of Project Financing, Corporate Finance and Asset Operations.
- You will support the central and regional Asset Managers with operational budgeting and forecasting to ensure projects are technically and financially optimised.
- You will assist Project and Transaction Managers with documenting project business cases and supporting analysis that feeds into acquisition or divestment opportunities and internal investment decision papers.
- You will support in the assessment of route to market opportunities for the IPP assets.
- You are responsible for enhancing best practice methods, valuation processes, data input automation, internal tools and templates for more effective operating portfolio management.
What you'll need to succeed
- You hold a relevant university degree in numerical discipline such as Maths, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Science or similar.
- You have relevant work experience of at least two years in finance, banking or related industry.
- You have experience of business modelling and valuation techniques, ideally with exposure to project financing and within the renewable energy industry is a plus.
- You are creative and pragmatic with an ability to find solutions to challenging problems.
- You are organised and able to manage multiple projects and international stakeholders.
- You have the ability to translate analysis into practical and implementable recommendations.
- You can act independently and take on challenges willingly but are also a team player, willing to provide support to all colleagues.
- You are fluent in English; fluency in German and other languages would be a plus.
