We are looking for a Head of L&D Strategy & Portfolio to lead an international team and take a central role in strengthening Vattenfall's future readiness. You will connect business strategy with the capabilities, skills and learning priorities needed to deliver today and succeed tomorrow.

As part of the L&D Management Team, you will lead the continued development of Vattenfall's group-wide L&D strategy and strategic portfolio. You will work closely with leaders and stakeholders across the business and People & Culture to identify emerging capability needs, with a particular focus on digitalization and AI, translate them into focused priorities, and ensure that our investments in learning create measurable value.

The role combines strategic direction, people leadership and portfolio governance. You will oversee a portfolio of group-wide frameworks and products that supports capability building and sustainable performance across Vattenfall. You will also help evolve how we use skills data, workforce insights, AI and learning technology to inform decisions and make development more relevant, scalable and embedded in everyday work.

You will lead an international team of specialists located across Vattenfall's main markets and report to the Vice President Talent & Learning.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead the evolution of Vattenfall's capability strategy, anticipating how AI and other business transformations will reshape work and workforce requirements, and translating these shifts into priorities for critical capability building, upskilling and reskilling.
  • Bring an outside-in perspective on workforce, skills, learning and technology trends, positioning capability development as a strategic enabler of transformation and sustainable performance.
  • Strengthen the connection between business strategy, workforce planning and critical capabilities by helping Vattenfall anticipate future capability demand, workforce supply and potential gaps.
  • Set the direction for more skills-based ways of working, making strategic choices about where capability insights can create most value and using evidence and results to drive broader adoption.
  • Own and govern the group-wide L&D portfolio, directing investments toward areas with the greatest strategic relevance and business impact.
  • Develop scalable approaches that embed learning in the flow of work and emphasize application, practice and performance, enabled by technology, data and AI.
  • Lead, empower and develop an international team of specialists, creating clear direction, ownership, collaboration and innovation.
  • Build strong senior stakeholder relationships, navigate complexity and represent L&D in relevant governance forums to create alignment and drive change.

Your profile

You are a strategic and collaborative leader who is motivated by the opportunity to strengthen Vattenfall's future capabilities. You combine conceptual thinking with the ability to turn strategy and emerging trends into focused priorities, governance and execution. You are comfortable operating in a complex international organization, building alignment across organizational boundaries and engaging senior stakeholders.

You are able to challenge established thinking constructively while remaining pragmatic about what it takes to implement change. You communicate complex topics clearly, create trust and help others see the connection between business needs, workforce choices and capability development.

You are also a people leader who provides direction and context, empowers specialists and creates the conditions for others to grow and deliver.

We are looking for someone with

  • A relevant academic degree
  • Extensive experience in areas such as learning and development, capability strategy, strategic workforce planning, skills-based talent practices and workforce transformation
  • Leadership experience, preferably from leading specialists in an international matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy and transformation needs into workforce, capability and development priorities, and turn these into actionable strategies, roadmaps or portfolios across a complex organisation.
  • Strong digital acumen and curiosity, with the ability to anticipate and translate the implications of AI and emerging technologies for work, workforce capabilities and learning
  • Experience using data and insights to support strategic choices, prioritization and investment decisions.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills across organizational levels.
  • Experience leading change and working across functions, countries and organizational boundaries.
  • Fluency in English. Swedish, German or Dutch is an advantage.
