The Associate of Transmission Generation Interconnection serves as a pivotal project manager for interconnection-related activities across the entire lifecycle of renewable energy project development. This role involves identifying optimal locations for renewable energy projects (such as solar, wind, storage), preparing and tracking generation interconnection applications, verifying and challenging interconnection study results, and negotiating agreements. The Associate ensures smooth transitions of project interconnection requirements to engineering and construction teams post-GIA signing. Key skills include exceptional communication, collaboration, the ability to multitask under pressure, and strong organizational skills. An ability to conceptualize complex ideas and a passion for renewable energy are highly desirable.

Essential Functions

  • Advise on critical transmission issues impacting commercial power transactions, planning, and real-time operations.
  • Thoroughly review interconnection studies to assess their impact on project cost, schedule, and operational characteristics.
  • Collaborate with developers and transmission team on decision-making (stay/withdraw/reduce) based on interconnection project studies and associated network upgrade costs.
  • Provide interconnection expertise to support commercial transaction due diligence.
  • Represent the company and maintain productive relationships with utilities, ISOs, industry groups, regulators, and other stakeholders in assigned areas, focusing on transmission and interconnection.
  • Lead and participate in stakeholder forums, advocating for company projects and understanding industry trends in grid-connected renewable resources.
  • Assist in the development of renewable resource policies with the Government Affairs team.
  • Address transmission-related issues in operational facilities.
  • Promote diversity and inclusivity in all stakeholder interactions.
  • Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering
  • 0-3 years minimum experience in transmission planning or generation interconnection related activities. Use of TARA, PSS/E, PSLF or similar software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of generation interconnection process, costs, risks interconnection tariffs and electrical standards and requirements.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with utilities, ISOs and industry representatives.
  • Proficient in public speaking, presentation skills, explaining complex technical topics and writing of technical reports.
  • Strong collaboration and problem solving skills.
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with efficiency and effectiveness
  • A positive attitude, outstanding project and people management skills.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs
