General Purpose

We are delighted to announce that due to our rapid growth, Weev is actively seeking to appoint a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) as a key member of our exectutive team for a new role within organisational structure. The CTO will play a pivotal role in shaping our technological vision, driving innovation, to support our expansion in the electric vehicle charging industry.

As the CTO, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our technology strategy, product development, and infrastructure. You will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise in driving the development and implementation of innovative solutions within the EV industry. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of cutting-edge solutions that meet the needs of our customers and drive company growth. The CTO will be responsible for managing the technology department's budget, 3rd party and internal resources, prioritising initiatives, and driving efficient allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives. Overall, the CTO's role is to drive technological innovation, enhance the company's competitive position in the EV market, and contribute to the development of sustainable and impactful solutions that advance the adoption of electric vehicles.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute the company's technology roadmap and strategy to support the overall business goals and objectives.
  • Develop, manage and deploy systems for internal use to improve the businesses workflow, innovation and automation.
  • Lead the research and development efforts for new and innovative electric vehicle (EV) solutions, including, charging infrastructure, software development opportunities, and smart mobility solutions.
  • Oversee the design, development, and launch of cutting-edge EV products, ensuring they meet market requirements, are scalable, and aligned with customer needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to cross-functional teams, to ensure successful product development and delivery.
  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with technology vendors, suppliers, and research institutions to enhance the company's technical capabilities and competitiveness.
  • Stay abreast of industry regulations and standards related to EV technologies, ensuring the company's products and solutions comply with applicable regulations.
  • Monitor emerging trends, technologies, and industry developments in the EV sector, assessing their potential impact on the company's business and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Identify and protect the company's intellectual property by filing patents and trademarks, as necessary.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing technical team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Develop and manage the technology department's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Develop and execute the company's technical strategy, aligning it with the overall business goals and objectives.
  • Lead the research and development efforts to design, develop, and optimise EV products and solutions, including hardware, software, and systems.
  • Drive innovation and stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in EV technologies, identifying opportunities to leverage new technologies to enhance our products and services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sub-contractors and operations, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of EV solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications in the EV domains.
  • Represent the company's technical capabilities and expertise to customers, partners, and stakeholders, building and maintaining strong relationships to drive business growth.
  • Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation activities to support the company's growth objectives.
  • Stay updated with market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs, providing strategic insights and recommendations to the executive team.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven ability to develop and execute technology strategies aligned with business goals, leveraging market insights and industry trends to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance technical and business considerations.
  • Candidates must have the ability to define the long-term technology strategy as a member of the senior leadership team, while also addressing the hands-on tactical needs of the business at all levels.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex technical projects on time and within budget.
  • Candidates must understand the extended enterprise and have an appreciation for value creation and must understand the overall vision for the business in order, to align the technical strategy, with the overall business strategy.
  • Candidates will have a demonstrated ability to apply an analytical process-driven approach to include appropriate KPI’s, in order to be proactive in all technical matter.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
  • Passion for sustainable transportation and commitment to driving positive environmental impact through EV solutions.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in technologies, such as renewable energy, smart grid and green tech, power electronics, charging infrastructure, or connectivity solutions.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science).
  • Experience in the electric vehicle industry, with a focus on technology development and innovation, is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications in the EV domains.

We are an Electrical Vehicle Solutions company based in Belfast with investment in a public Electrical Vehicle (EV) charging network infrastructure throughout Northern Ireland. We aim to have in the region of 1500 charging stations installed across a vast array of over 300+ locations including a number of major ultra-rapid charging hub sites that will see drivers able to fully “top up” their vehicles in less than 20 minutes.
