Legal Counsel

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

In this new role, you will play a vital part in the Legal Team, offering legal support and collaborating closely with major projects, delivery, and procurement teams. Your responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and associated documents for infrastructure projects and providing legal assistance in administering contracts during the project delivery phase.

You will actively identify key commercial and legal risks, offering strategic and solutions-focused advice to the business. Close coordination with the legal team and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to address all legal aspects of projects is a key component of this role.

The ideal candidate should possess strong skills in commercial drafting, reviewing, and negotiating, along with a proven track record of working on large infrastructure projects. Additionally, proficiency in identifying and understanding commercial and legal risks is critical.

About you

• Admitted (or able to be admitted) as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
• Minimum 5-7 years projects experience (preferably gained in private practice and in-house).
• Strong commercial drafting, reviewing and negotiating skills.
• Demonstrated experience working on large infrastructure projects.
• Highly capable in identifying and understanding commercial and legal risks.
• Ability to be team-focused and also work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to liaise, on a daily basis, with internal and external stakeholders.
