Our goal is a European network of 1000 fast charging stations in prime locations, where all electric vehicles can charge with renewable energy from the sun and wind. Your role

As the Engineering Manager for our Payments team, you will be at the forefront of our mission, responsible for leading and empowering a dynamic and diverse engineering team dedicated to delivering innovative payment solutions. You will be the driving force behind the technical excellence, personal growth, and way of working within your team. If you're a visionary leader with a passion for engineering and driving the transition to electric mobility, this role is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact. You will take overall responsibility for hiring, team management, agile project management, and the development and quality of this project. You will be working closely with Product Management, fellow Engineering Managers, and the Management Team to align on team goals and collaboration and shape our collective technical vision. This position reports to the Head of Engineering.

Your overall responsibilities include

Technical Leadership

  • Drive technical excellence within your engineering team by setting high standards and fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop the technology for delivering product and technology solutions that redefine the charging experience
  • Provide guidance and expertise in the development of charging technologies, ensuring our products remain at the forefront of the industry

Personal Growth and Development

  • Coach, mentor, and inspire your team members to reach their full potential, both technically and personally
  • Create an environment that encourages continuous learning, skill development, and career advancement
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture where diverse perspectives are valued and celebrated
  • Performance evaluation of your team members and follow-up conversations

Way of working

  • Ensure that your team operates efficiently, delivering high-quality work while adhering to Agile principles and delivering value
  • Lead your team in executing engineering projects with a focus on quality, scalability, and security
  • Identify and help remove impediments to your team's success, promoting smooth and efficient development process

Job requirements

  • A strong foundation in engineering principles and expertise in relevant technologies, ensuring the ability to guide the team effectively
  • At least 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience with current technical competency in Java, Kotlin
  • You have worked with AWS or other cloud platforms
  • It's a big plus if you are familiar with Maven, Spring Boot, and Postgres, or some equivalent
  • Experience in nurturing talent, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative learning environment within the team
  • Align technical strategies with overall business objectives, contributing to the company's long-term goals and growth
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey ideas, provide feedback, and liaise between technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to analyze data and metrics to make informed decisions, driving process improvements and team performance
  • Collaborate across departments, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose within the organization
  • Commitment to our mission of delivering freedom to electric drivers
  • Experience with payment systems is a plus
