The standardization team is a global team primarily located in Denmark, India, and Portugal. Our department is responsible for developing, defining and ensuring both short and long-term business performance targets are being met across platforms, modules, sub-modules and value chains to ensure the highest degree of standardized and modularized products.
We are responsible for delivering business and capability offerings such as Standardization and Parts management, Reference Designation Systems (RDS), Materials and coatings management and External standards & Standards in Vestas that maximize the value Vestas creates for stakeholders.
Responsibilities
This position will have exciting job opportunities and you will join an awesome product scrum team where we will practice Agile and Scrum to develop business and engineering capabilities to deliver value creation and customer excitement. The main tasks include:
- Drive and execute strategy roadmap and engineering capabilities within your product area
- Initiate and promote material standardization activities and develop base materials and surface treatment catalogues to accelerate the modularization and digitalization journey
- Develop specification documents for materials including heat treatments and surface protections from a global perspective
- Review the customer requirements set around materials and surface protections and guide the organization to make the right decision
- Support the design team in recommending the appropriate & preferred base materials, processes, and surface protections according to the design need
- Develop initiatives and develop engineering capabilities that include processes, people, and systems improvements to improve how we engineer and accelerate our Vestas strategic goals
- Actively identify opportunities for materials standardization together with stakeholders from across the value chain to reduce cost and improve global availability
- Develop expert knowledge within the materials domains and build governance and guidelines to support Vestas within this field
Qualifications
- MTech / M. E / M.Scs. or Ph.D. within Engineering, preferably within Mechanical Engineering and Material Engineering or similar
- 5-7 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably from the wind but potentially from other Engineering industries (E.g. Structural Engineering, Heavy Engineering Industry, Aerospace, Automotive, and Energy Sector)
- 5+ years of experience working with materials and coatings specifications and international standards
- 5+ years of experience working with new product design & development and engineering application of materials and surface treatment
- Experience in how we engineer and improve engineering capability development improvement initiatives within materials engineering
- Experienced with materials testing methods and processes
Competencies
Need to Have:
- Good knowledge of global Industry material standards, specifications and engineering applications
- Experienced in heat treatment and various Surface protection methods and processes
- Experienced in general Mechanical Engineering particularly in structural design engineering
- Good knowledge of Sustainability and product lifecycle and recycling management
- Should be committed, ideal team partner and have effective stakeholder engagement
- Good communication skills and fluency in English (speaking and writing)
- Basic knowledge of Agile and Scrum ways of working
It would be nice, if you have:
- Hands-on experience in digitalization and engineering capabilities development
- Basic skills in Design & PLM Tools and processes (e.g. Windchill, CAD Tools, and SAP)
- Exposure to plastics and composite materials
