Ixora Energy, a subsidiary of ENGIE, manages multiple anaerobic digestion (AD) facilities throughout the South West region. These facilities supply eco-friendly energy to residences and businesses in the area. We have actively contributed to the advancement of this sector, backing pioneering research initiatives and fostering innovation.

About the role

We are recruiting a Plant Operator based in our plant known Gorst Energy in Exeter. This is a Permanent role, working 45 shift hours per week(including weekend shifts on a rota). There will also be an on-call rota.

As a Plant Operator you will be responsible for the effective and efficient running of the anaerobic digestion plant and assist the Plant Manager to ensure the plants run continuously at optimal efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Plant Manager in the day to day running of the plant including feeding and routine monitoring
  • Hands on role in assisting with the feedstock deliveries, storage and loading feedstock into digestion plant using a telehandler. Working alongside the Assistant Manager to ensure accurate recording of feedstock deliveries.
  • Plant optimisation / cleaning and assisting the Plant Maintenance team with general maintenance including minor fault repairs on pumps and motors. Ensuring that all preventative and reactive maintenance is carried out in accordance with the maintenance plans within set timeframes.
  • Responsible for plant daily/weekly/monthly checks and ensuring that these are carried out within the timescales set and recorded accurately in line with the Company protocols.
  • Assist the plant maintenance team in ensuring good stock control of the site stores and keeping the area clean and tidy and well organised.
  • Responsible for site cleanliness and for maintaining excellent housekeeping on both plants. This includes some general maintenance of the green landscape areas within both plants including weeding, spraying (training to be provided) and strimming etc.
  • Monitoring IT control systems and responding accordingly. This will include remote monitoring when on call or off site.
  • Adhering to, monitoring and responding appropriately to site processes and procedures. Checking with the Assistant Manager/Plant Maintenance Manager, or in their absence responsible for, ensuring all contractors have correct permits to work and paperwork in place prior to any commencement of works

Key Requirements

  • Prior experience in a similar role, preferably in the renewable energy, agricultural or industrial sector.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and operate complex machinery.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
