REC Analyst, Energy Management
Join as a REC Analyst, Energy Management in Carlsbad, CA. Support Energy Management, manage RECs, ensure compliance, and provide general support. Bachelor's degree and 3+ years experience required.
The REC Analyst will work closely with the Energy Management as well as other members of the Asset Management team and a wide range of Clearway departments to help maximize the value of assets, ensure contractual compliance, and support growth initiatives. In this role, the Analyst will focus on supporting, the Asset Management team by 1) managing RECs (renewable energy certificates) 2) performing compliance activities, and 3) providing general support to the team. This is a collaborative role that will require a high degree of cross-functional interaction and strong problem-solving skills. This individual will report to a Director and will be located out of the San Francisco, Scottsdale, or San Diego offices. This is a great role to learn about the renewable energy industry.
What You'll Be Doing
REC/Incentive Support
- Ensure RECs are delivered and invoices are produced consistent with the terms of transaction agreements.
- Manage REC tracking systems and incentive portals.
- Monitor, verify, and transfer RECs using third-party tracking systems.
- Ensure generators are registered with appropriate state and industry agencies.
- Oversee annual REC audit.
- Maintain REC and incentive trackers and report out as appropriate.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure all documents/information needed for revenue and incentive claims are prepared, executed, and submitted.
Compliance: Performance & Reporting
- Perform compliance activities for assigned obligations/deliverables.
- Create and prepare tracking models and reports as required to meet asset/fund obligations including:
- Performance/production reports
- Revenue sharing calculations
- Lease True-up payment calculations
Internal Reporting/ Data & Document Maintenance
- Respond to intra-company requests for information regarding Clearway’s solar power-generating fleet. Pull data from the database for reporting and filter, sort, and format as needed.
- Pull generation data from external & internal sources, as needed, to support various reporting needs and support Asset Managers, Incentive Program Managers, and Senior Analysts.
- Support the development of information-sharing platforms, databases, lists, and work management systems, including populating such systems with historical records and archiving of documents.
- Control and manage project document organization and retention.
General Support and Project Administration
- Work with Supply Chain, Accounting, A/P, and Asset Managers to set up new vendors, request purchase orders, and pay invoices.
- Research payments and vendors in SAP and Coupa to help resolve payment issues.
- Support Asset Managers and Incentive Program Managers with various financial & performance analyses
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in Accounting, Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial analysis, business/market analysis, accounting, project valuation, project/business administration, project management, project development, asset management, compliance, contract administration, deal execution, project finance, energy and environmental market analysis, or other analysis or commercial role.
- 3 years of experience manipulating and managing large amounts of MS Excel-based data. Prior experience with advanced formulas (ie vlookup, sumproduct, sumif, conditional formatting, etc.) and creating reports from scratch.
- Experience researching, analyzing, and synthesizing data and reports.
- Excellent analytical, project management, and organizational skills.
- Strong financial and business acumen, and understanding of accounting, finance, and procurement concepts.
- Advanced expertise with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read complex agreements for specific provisions related to payment and notice requirements.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to occasionally travel overnight to company or project locations.

What Would Be Nice
- Prior SAP and SharePoint experience preferred.
- Experience working with renewable portfolio standards (RPS), renewable energy credits (RECs), and other renewable program incentives is preferred.
- Experience with Supply Chain, Procurement, and Accounts Payable is highly desirable.
Clearway will not sponsor nonimmigrant visas for this position (H-1B, TN, E-3, etc.).
The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.
Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations
$85,000—$105,000 USD
