We've made good progress on the UK's path to net zero. But we can do better. Research shows that 100% renewable energy tariffs aren't actually making the grid greener. We have to go further. We need to save energy, use power at smarter times of the day and look at other ways to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint.

That's where OVO Drive comes in, it's our dedicated electric vehicle business. We already provide hardware installations, home & public charging but we want so much more, we want to build a single app experience that covers everything an EV driver could need this role will play a huge part in that.

We work like a start up- using our entrepreneurial, OVO Way spirit to drive us forward. And we'll be flexible about how we do it - trying new things, growing the ones that work and learning new, green skills as we go.

This role in a nutshell

Sitting in the OVO Drive business, this role will manage the Charge Anytime proposition from end to end. This includes launching and managing new features, expanding eligibility partners (charger and vehicle OEMs), overseeing the commercial metrics and general growth of the proposition. We want Charge Anytime to be the number one EV charging proposition for EV drivers and you will be instrumental to this goal.

Your key outputs will be

  • Be responsible for the commercial performance of Charge Anytime.
  • Own the business and customer economics, creating attractive propositions that drive significant growth in line with forecasts.
  • Lead and own the end to end go-to-market strategy, including operational delivery of initiatives launched with partners.
  • Own [in partnership with the finance business partner] the weekly/monthly reporting, including P&L performance vs budget and a detailed understanding of unit economics.
  • Work closely with the energy pricing and market design teams to ensure the economics are in line with business expectations, making adjustments where necessary.
  • Work with our Kaluza Flex colleagues and OVO data teams to ensure robust data requirements are met.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Kaluza colleagues and other tech teams within OVO to ensure intended, high reliability of the proposition and satisfaction amongst customers.
  • Take responsibility for managing and developing relationships with existing and new partners in the electric vehicle space such as vehicle and charger OEMs.
  • Understand customer needs and sentiments, working closely with the product and tech teams to create new, as well as improve existing customer journeys required to drive scale and profitability.
  • Be continuously informed about competitive products in the market and general dynamics in the EV sector as a whole that drive customer behaviours.
  • Evaluate and own risks, challenges and opportunities, making recommendations on future strategy.
  • Engage with the policy and public affairs team, staying abreast of relevant policy consultations and decisions that help us adapt to the environment in which we operate.
  • Represent OVO at external industry events to help build its profile and reputation as a tech leader in this space.

You'll be a successful Senior commercial manager at OVO if you…

  • Have experience in a startup or a fast-paced and tech-first environment.
  • Have experience in building business cases, forecasting and monitoring performance against targets.
  • A deep knowledge of the energy, and electric vehicle sectors is preferred.
  • Are skillful in understanding and manipulating data to drive commercial decisions.
  • Have experience in developing commercial partnerships across a broad range of industries, including negotiating contracts and developing relationships over time.
  • A track record of implementing and maintaining partnerships that include both commercial and marketing considerations.
  • Have experience working with product development and technology teams.
  • Ideally have a high-level technical understanding of both hardware and software solutions relevant to electric vehicles.
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to engage audiences at senior exec and C-suite level.
  • Effective networking skills.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to see the bigger picture and deliver at pace.
  • Able to operate at a high level independently.
  • Skilled at writing with an ability to explain complex topics and issues in a way that is accessible to a wide range of audiences.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to plans and able to respond confidently and positively to changing scenarios.

We'll pay you between £59,690 - 78,790, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
