As a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in the execution phase of solar projects, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, construction, and commissioning of mechanical systems within solar power projects. Your role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the successful execution of solar installations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Planning and Coordination
    • Collaborate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
    • Ensure alignment of mechanical execution activities with overall project goals and timelines.
  2. Site Assessments and Layout Planning
    • Conduct site assessments to determine optimal locations for solar equipment installation.
    • Develop layout plans for mechanical components, including solar panels, support structures, trackers, and other associated systems.
  3. Equipment Procurement and Installation
    • Specify and procure mechanical equipment such as mounting structures, trackers, and other components required for solar installations.
    • Oversee the installation and alignment of solar panels, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  4. Civil and Structural Integration
    • Collaborate with civil and structural engineers to ensure proper integration of mechanical components with foundations and support structures.
    • Review and approve structural designs related to mechanical systems.
  5. Quality Assurance and Control
    • Develop and implement quality control processes for mechanical installations.
    • Conduct inspections to ensure that equipment is installed correctly and meets quality standards.
  6. Health and Safety Compliance
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols during the execution phase, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
    • Conduct safety audits and address any issues promptly.
  7. Contractor Management
    • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate execution of mechanical tasks.
    • Resolve any issues related to construction delays, design modifications, or other project challenges.
  8. Commissioning and Testing
    • Oversee the commissioning process for mechanical systems, working closely with electrical engineers and technicians.
    • Conduct performance tests to verify the functionality and efficiency of mechanical components.
  9. Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of construction activities, changes, and deviations.
    • Prepare progress reports and communicate updates to project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the execution of solar or renewable energy projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong project management skills.
