Job Description

Ulteig is excited to announce that we are seeking qualified candidates for an Associate Director position in our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Department. The Associate Director will focus on leading technical engineering managers and teams consisting of professionals across the department while also supporting projects as a lead engineer and business development initiatives that drive revenue growth for the T&D Department.

What You'll Do

Project Responsibilities - 20%

  • Manages and leads all engineering activities during the proposal, design, quality control, and construction stages of transmission line projects that are assigned.
  • Provides management and leadership for subconsultants
  • Provides project oversight, primary as Project Sponsor level on transmission line projects, including managing engineering scope according to technical contracts, developing change orders, and maintaining project schedules.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of several disciplines on a project of significant scope or a combination of large projects.
  • Maintains high levels of quality to meet internal and external client requirements in alignment with company expectations.

Management Responsibilities - 40%

  • Maintains and grows positive team culture.
  • Provides strategic direction, leadership and technical services oversight for employees on achieving individual, team, department, and organizational performance goals.
  • Oversees and approves team budgets for financial responsibility. Includes but is not limited to revenue, profitability, and indirect expenses (training expenses, reward and recognition expenses, team event costs, etc.).
  • Coaches, trains and develops management staff for growth and development opportunities. Responsible for regular management meetings, 1:1 meetings, career development discussions, talent assessment succession planning, quarterly reviews, individual promotions, team retention, and yearly team engagement survey results.
  • Regularly evaluates capacity and skillsets to direct growth in workforce planning, supports strong cross team and cross office resourcing collaboration, performs individual performance reviews, evaluates individual annual merit and bonus decisions, and provides training and professional development for team members.
  • Supports company-wide hiring for successful growth which includes; regular evaluation of candidate resumes, technical phone screens, collaboration with HR partners, and regular interviews and debrief assessments.

Business Development Responsibilities - 40%

  • Participates and partners with members of the Sales team and engineers throughout the organization to promote revenue growth, cost containment and expansion of services with existing and prospective clients that support the territory sales plan execution.
  • Supports proposal efforts by developing, providing resources, and reviewing proposals, contracts, work orders, MSAs and NDAs by working with Proposal Development Team and Project Management.
  • Maintains and builds positive client relationships across the industry to enhance Ulteig's market position within the sectors we serve.

What We Expect from You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering required from ABET accredited school or equivalent
  • 12+ years of experience in the Engineering field preferred
  • PE registration is required
  • Prior management experience required
  • Prior technical transmission line design and/or construction experience required
  • Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic, and collaborative attitude
  • Focused and passionate around internal engagement and maximizing development of others
  • Strong business acumen and industry knowledge
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, public and external agencies
  • High level of initiative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and highly responsive, internally and externally
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills
  • Displays a high level of initiative and explores new opportunities while understanding the risk to the organization
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access) and additional software knowledge depending on specialty.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $160,200- $216,600
Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job-specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
