Job Description

Position is responsible for supporting the onboarding and integration of new wind, solar, and battery projects into the NEER portfolio, operating under general or limited supervision. The role serves as a subject matter expert in Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Energy Services Agreements (ESAs) and coordinates Business Management support of the development process, including draft agreement reviews, management approval support, and early project risk assessments. The position collaborates across internal project teams and external stakeholders to ensure projects are structured for successful execution, compliant onboarding, and effective handoff at Commercial Operations. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who demonstrates strong judgment, effective communication, and the ability to prioritize and multitask in a dynamic environment. Energy industry knowledge and PPA/ESA experience preferred.

Position may be filled at lower level depending on experience and qualifications.

Overview

Position is responsible for leading the overall management of generating assets and associated commercial relationships, with an emphasis on pre-COD contract risk review and cross‑functional coordination to enable successful project onboarding and post-COD performance. Related responsibilities include performing analytics and financial/contractual assessment, supporting management approval and financing due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with contractual, financing, and regulatory requirements, maintaining close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and presenting clear risk and decision materials to leadership.

Travel is expected to be up to 5% of the time.

Job Duties

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for PPAs and ESAs, reviewing draft agreements and identifying commercial, financial, compliance, and operational risks prior to execution.
  • Coordinate and support BMO engagement throughout the development lifecycle, including draft agreement reviews, management approvals, early project risk assessments, and financing due diligence support.
  • Perform financial, operational, technical, and contractual analysis (including modeling and reporting as needed) to support onboarding readiness, management decisions, and portfolio outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with power purchase agreements, financing agreements, and applicable regulatory requirements; proactively identify issues and recommend mitigation actions.
  • Act as a primary liaison across Development, Origination, Legal, Finance, Asset Onboarding, Regional teams, customers, and other stakeholders to align project assumptions, risks, schedules, and readiness through Commercial Operations.
  • Lead and contribute to value‑added initiatives that improve effectiveness, including process standardization, tool adoption, documentation, and workflow optimization.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, training, and mentorship to Business Management Analysts and other team members.
  • Perform ad‑hoc analysis and other job‑related duties as assigned.

Job Overview

Employees in this position support the overall P and L management of one or more NextEra generating assets or upstream/midstream assets that have achieved commercial operation. This role supports strategic decision-making with respect to such assets, including hedging, operations and maintenance. This role identifies opportunities and analyzes the impact on company financials to maximize P and L profitability.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages and improves the generating asset or upstream/midstream assets Profit and Loss including optimization of asset interaction with energy markets
  • Completes budgets and monthly forecasting, financial analyses, ad hoc reports, and modeling
  • Ensures compliance with power purchase agreements, land leases, financings and regulatory requirements
  • Works with teams throughout the company in a coordinator capacity
  • Maintains close working relationships with customers and stakeholders
  • Monitors project operations
  • Conducts analysis on issues impacting operations and proactively identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Leads value-added projects such as supporting regional leadership in the development of strategic plans, mergers and acquisitions, project development, asset optimization, restructurings, and building relationships with off-takers, landowners, and state and local regulators
  • Trains and mentors Business Management Analysts
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
