Job Description

The IT Infrastructure Project Portfolio & Delivery Team is an integral part of RWE's IT strategy. We provide a trusted service, managing and supporting IT projects and initiatives throughout their lifecycle. In line with RWEST IT's transformation, we support a variety of project formats and delivery approaches, always focusing on creating tangible business value.

As a (Senior) IT Project Manager, you will use your expertise to drive major IT initiatives from concept to completion. You will live classic & agile project management values and principles. You will act as a role model for project management excellence.

Your future plans

  • Manage end‑to‑end project initiation and delivery, including:
    • Defining project goals, scope and success criteria
    • Setting up project organization, governance and delivery approach (waterfall, agile & hybrid, as appropriate)
    • Ensuring alignment with the overall IT Infrastructure strategy, architecture principles and security/compliance requirements
  • Develop and manage detailed project timelines, budgets and costs, ensuring:
    • Risks are identified, mitigated and monitored
    • Dependencies and assumptions are clearly documented, communicated and tracked
    • Benefits, milestones and deliverables are clearly defined and regularly reviewed
  • Manage expectations of stakeholders at all seniority levels through effective communication and structured governance:
    • Prepare and run steering committee meetings and other decision forums
    • Provide transparent, concise and regular project status reporting
    • Escalate issues and decision needs proactively, with clear options and recommendations
  • Coordinate and oversee multiple workstreams where required, working closely with:
    • RWE IT Product Owners and agile squads
    • External vendors and implementation partners
    • Other operating companies and connected teams in- and outside of IT Infra (e.g. Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, Data Protection)
  • Act as a role model, coach and ambassador for project management within the organization:
    • Provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to project teams and colleagues
    • Help establish and continuously improve project management standards and practices
    • Support the further development and implementation of RWEST's model for delivering large, cross‑functional programs & projects
    • Continuously drive change and delivery excellence, working towards ambitious timelines even in a fast‑moving environment

Your skills

  • Proven track record as an experienced IT Project Manager delivering complex IT projects in quickly changing environments
  • Solid experience with agile project management (e.g. Scrum) processes and artefacts, and clear understanding of the differences to waterfall and hybrid projects
  • Strong drive for change, with the ability to deliver to ambitious timelines and manage competing priorities
  • High level of confidence and credibility, with the ability to:
    • Challenge project sponsors, business clients, stakeholders, suppliers and IT colleagues
    • Constructively question project scope, governance, timelines and finances
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills:
    • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management
    • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities:
    • Able to structure, analyse and solve complex problems
    • Comfortable working with data, metrics and financials to support decisions
  • Effective coach and mentor, able to inspire and motivate diverse, cross‑functional teams, even under high pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills
  • German language skills are a plus

Advantageous, but not mandatory

  • Knowledge of tools supporting project management (e.g. MS Project, Jira)
  • Certification in PRINCE2, PMP, IPMA, Scrum, ITIL
  • Background or familiarity with energy supply, energy trading or similar fast‑paced, market‑driven environments
