Job Description

The DG Asset Engineer is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance improvement of Distributed Generation solar PV assets in Vietnam. The role focuses on rooftop, commercial and industrial, and other DG solar assets, ensuring that maintenance works are planned and executed safely, efficiently, and in line with technical and quality standards.

This is a technical role, requiring practical knowledge of solar PV systems, electrical equipment, contractor coordination, site execution, and technical problem-solving.

Responsibilities

1. DG Asset Operations & Maintenance Support

  • Support day-to-day operation and maintenance activities for assigned DG solar PV assets.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, generation output, alarms, and key operating parameters.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues involving PV modules, inverters, cables, monitoring systems, and other balance-of-system components.
  • Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure timely completion.
  • Proactively manage maintenance priorities, schedules, and site requirements.

2. Site Execution & Contractor Coordination

  • Coordinate with contractors, technical teams, engineering resources, customers, and authorities for execution of DG maintenance works.
  • Provide technical support during site activities, inspections, testing, and rectification works.
  • Review work progress, contractor performance, technical findings, and maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure maintenance works are completed according to agreed scope, timeline, safety requirements, and quality standards.

3. Technical Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare, coordinate, and maintain technical and safety documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, work instructions, maintenance records, and site reports.
  • Ensure all site activities comply with company HSE requirements, customer site rules, local regulations, and applicable technical standards.
  • Participate in safety programmes, site audits, toolbox meetings, and incident prevention activities.
  • Support permit-to-work processes and ensure proper documentation before work execution.

4. Performance Improvement & Root Cause Analysis

  • Analyse asset performance data and support actions to improve generation, reliability, and system availability.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for recurring faults, underperformance, equipment defects, and safety or quality incidents.
  • Support implementation of improvement projects to enhance DG asset performance and maintenance efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce downtime, optimise maintenance activities, and strengthen technical standards.

5. Reporting & Other Responsibilities

  • Supported by the O&M contractor, prepare maintenance updates, technical reports, incident summaries, and improvement action trackers.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, spare parts usage, inspections, defects, and rectification status.
  • Support other Asset Operations activities, technical initiatives, or projects as assigned by management.

6. Tendering

  • Participate in the development of Request for Proposal (RFP) packages, including defining technical specifications, performance guarantees, and operational key performance indicators.
  • Conduct initial technical evaluation of the bid submission and execute the clarification process with bidders.

7. M&A project

  • Review technical project document and information provided by the seller.
  • Review the technical data rooms of target assets, specifically evaluating structural engineering reports, roof structure analysis, historical generation data, etc.
  • Coordinate site inspections to prepare technical red flag reports and support the Technical Due Diligence (TDD) process.
  • Verify the close-out of technical Conditions Precedent (CP) and Conditions Subsequent (CS) and join in the physical asset takeover from the seller into the company's operational portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant experience in solar PV operation and maintenance, electrical systems, or renewable energy asset operations; DG, rooftop solar, or commercial and industrial PV experience is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of PV modules, inverters, DC/AC systems, monitoring platforms, electrical protection, and balance-of-system components.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, site works, maintenance schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PV system issues and interpret technical drawings, single-line diagrams, monitoring data, and maintenance reports.
  • Good understanding of HSE requirements, risk assessments, method statements, work instructions, and permit-to-work processes.
  • Good coordination, reporting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proactive, hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to work across multiple customer sites or DG assets.
  • Valid driving licence is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Vietnamese and working knowledge of English.
