Job Description

Our mission is to make clean power accessible. We are passionate about making a positive impact on communities and the environment where we work.

We're designing, financing, building and operating the world's most sophisticated battery systems to enable the take up of more renewable power, electrifying fleets for cleaner air, and providing clean, portable power including repurposed electric vehicle batteries. Our proprietary software and data analysis optimises operational performance for our customers to reduce emissions and costs.

Since we began in 2017, we've raised over £2.7 billion in debt and equity funding and transformed it into >1.2GW of grid-connected batteries live or under contract and c.3,400 electric vehicles supported, including transit buses, school buses and trucks. We have operations in the USA, the UK, Benelux, Australia and New Zealand, with a global headquarters in London.

With offices in Chicago and New York, our rapidly growing company is looking for highly talented and motivated people to join us.

The Opportunity

Reporting to our EVP Sales & Marketing, North America, you will be the first dedicated marketing hire for Zenobē's North America business. Your job is to build the foundational marketing engine - the systems, processes, content and campaigns - that turn market awareness into qualified pipeline for our Transit, School Bus and Commercial Truck teams across the US and Canada.

This is a generalist, hands-on, builder role. We are in process of establishing baselines, definitions and outputs for marketing to drive and track pipeline growth - so a big part of the job in year one is building a solid foundation for scaling. This includes delivering consistent marketing activations, defining what a qualified lead looks like for us, establishing lead scoring and handover with sales, and standing up the reporting that lets us measure and improve from there. You'll work closely with business development, product and regional teams, and with our centralized Global Marketing team in the UK.

We are looking for someone who can build for scale while staying disciplined about what they focus on in year one. The ideal candidate will have experience managing competing priorities across digital and in-person channels, and an eye for executing projects with the highest impact. In year one we expect the weight of effort to sit at roughly 60% demand generation and campaign delivery, 25% events, and 15% brand, content and PR. We will review that balance as the funnel matures.

What You Will Be Accountable For

You will be responsible for delivering against the marketing strategy, owning the work plans and channels related to this, and meeting targets aligned to qualified lead generation, pipeline contribution and marketing ROI. An early and ongoing part of the role is establishing the baselines and systems that make those targets measurable. This includes:

  • Defining and tracking marketing-sourced qualified leads (MQLs/SQLs) and pipeline
  • Building attribution and full-funnel reporting in Salesforce and HubSpot
  • Establishing cost-per-SQL and marketing ROI benchmarks, and improving them quarter over quarter
  • Prioritizing a focused set of digital campaigns and events each quarter, and showing the pipeline impact of that focused effort
  • Establishing the commercial return on our association memberships, sponsorships and events, and reallocating away from what does not deliver.

A Bit About the Day to Day

Building the demand generation foundation

  • The Marketing strategy for North America is set by the EVP Sales & Marketing with the Global Marketing team. You translate it into a delivery plan: named campaigns, owners, channels and timings, with a view on the pipeline it should generate. And you deliver against it.
  • As an early priority, agree with Sales what a qualified lead means for us, and get lead scoring, routing, nurture and handover working in HubSpot and Salesforce, with clear SLAs and feedback loops between marketing and sales.
  • Agree a quarterly plan with the EVP Sales & Marketing setting out which campaigns, segments and events get budget and why, so effort concentrates on the highest-return activity rather than broad coverage.
  • Select and manage external agency, freelance or contractor support for content production (copywriting, design, SEO/GEO) - you'll direct and edit high-value content yourself, and use outside resources to scale production and bring specialist knowledge.
  • Run a rolling quarterly campaign and content calendar, republished monthly, so the business can see what is landing, when, and for which segment.

Brand, content, events, and memberships

  • Create and oversee content and thought leadership that strengthens Zenobē's position as a market leader in fleet electrification.
  • Manage the Media agency to deliver a pipeline of news stories that bring storytelling of our projects to life, establish our brand and build our reputation. Work with the Global Marketing team to ensure message alignment and strategic value.
  • Select and deliver a small number of priority events, trade shows and webinars - chosen for commercial impact rather than broad coverage - with clear lead capture and follow-up plans so each one has a measurable pipeline outcome.
  • Manage NA digital channels in partnership with the Global Marketing team - ensuring consistent messaging and a strong pipeline of NA-relevant content.
  • Own our industry association memberships and sponsorships, which nobody currently manages: audit what we pay for today, evaluate each against the pipeline, speaking and relationship value it actually returns, and recommend where we renew, renegotiate or exit.
  • Work the memberships we keep for commercial return: speaking platforms, member introductions, co-marketing and event access with the resulting leads captured and tracked like any other source.

Indirect channel

  • Take on the indirect channel feasibility work started by the Origination team in H2 2026: review the read on OEMs, dealers, financiers and consultants, and form a view on where partner-sourced leads are realistic for us.
  • If the signals confirm, build and run the channel plan from 2027: co-marketing, joint collateral and partner enablement. The goal is to establish a partner-sourced pipeline tracked and reported separately so the indirect contribution is visible.

Health and Safety

  • Actively contribute to Zenobe's commitment to health and safety, wellbeing and sustainability by; integrating these principles into daily responsibilities, ensuring a safe and supportive work environment, promoting both the physical and mental health of self and colleagues, and adopting sustainable and energy-efficient practices to minimize environmental impact. By doing so, each employee at Zenobe plays a vital role in fostering a culture that prioritises overall safety, holistic wellbeing, environmental sustainability in our business operations.

Your Experience

  • Proven track record in B2B demand generation and lead generation, with evidence of marketing-sourced pipeline delivered, and experience building or scaling a funnel including lead scoring, nurture and sales handover.
  • Experience marketing to our customer segments - transit and bus operators, school transportation or commercial truck/fleet operators - or within businesses serving these customers, such as fleet leasing, financing, vehicle OEMs or maintenance providers.
  • Demonstrated experience building marketing operations, systems and processes from a low base - establishing tracking, reporting and content workflows where none previously existed.
  • Hands-on experience delivering demand generation across SEO/GEO, SEM, paid media, email and marketing automation - programs you have run yourself, not solely directed through agencies - with the judgement to bring in specialist agencies where scale requires it.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce and HubSpot, and confident using data and analytics to drive decisions.
  • Strong content creation and storytelling skills, with the ability to engage technical and commercial audiences and simplify the complex; comfortable directing external agency or freelance resources for design and copywriting production.
  • Experience planning and delivering industry events and trade shows with measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a global environment.

Desirable

  • Experience in channel or partner marketing - co-marketing, partner enablement and generating leads through indirect routes to market.
  • Experience of public sector procurement and tender-driven sales cycles.
  • Knowledge of the fleet electrification or battery storage landscape and customer frictions to adoption.
  • Experience engaging with PR and media communities.
