Role Overview
The Associate / Senior Associate, Investments will support the identification, evaluation, development, and execution of utility-scale renewable energy investments across Asia Pacific with a closer line of sight to markets in Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. The role is expected to report directly to the CIO in supporting decision-making for the entire group.
Working closely with colleagues across development, engineering, finance, legal, and external stakeholders, this individual will contribute to greenfield development opportunities, mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and project financing initiatives. The role offers broad exposure across the investment lifecycle and the opportunity to help grow one of the region's leading renewable energy platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Analysis & Evaluation
- Develop and maintain financial models for renewable energy and infrastructure investments.
- Perform valuation, scenario, sensitivity, and risk analyses to support investment decisions including offtake negotiations, FID decisions and devex initiation / monitoring.
- Assess project economics, commercial assumptions, and potential returns across development and acquisition opportunities.
- Support the preparation of investment recommendations and internal approval materials.
- Preparation of regular reporting material with local team to discuss next quarterly spend profiles and project priorities
Greenfield Development & Opportunity Assessment
- Support the evaluation of greenfield renewable energy opportunities across Southeast Asia.
- Conduct market, commercial, and regulatory research to identify attractive investment opportunities.
- Work closely with development teams to assess project viability and investment attractiveness.
- Monitor industry trends, power markets, and competitive activity across the region.
Transaction Execution & Due Diligence
- Support acquisition, partnership, and investment opportunities across the region.
- Participate in due diligence activities and coordinate with internal teams and external advisors.
- Review project and company information to identify key risks and opportunities.
- Support financing, transaction execution, and other strategic initiatives as required.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with development, legal, engineering, finance, and operations teams.
- Support engagement with developers, investors, lenders, advisors, and strategic partners.
- Prepare analyses and presentations for management and investment discussions.
- Contribute to initiatives that support the continued growth of Peak Energy's utility-scale platform.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, project finance, investment banking, corporate development, consulting, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
- Financial modelling experience relating to infrastructure, power, or renewable energy projects is required.
- Financial due diligence experience relating to renewable energy or infrastructure investments is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across functions and cultures.
