Join SP Energy Networks' Transmission Operations team as a Scheduling Technician and play a key role in delivering the projects that will shape the future of Britain's energy network.

We're at the forefront of Britain's energy transformation, operating over 4,000km of transmission infrastructure that connects renewable energy sources to millions of homes and businesses. In this role, you'll be instrumental in coordinating the complex engineering projects that keep our transmission network running reliably while we invest over £12 billion to enable Scotland's Net Zero ambitions.

Your expertise in heavy industrial environments will directly support our mission to build the energy infrastructure of tomorrow, ensuring every project is planned, scheduled and delivered with precision. This is your opportunity to apply your technical knowledge in an organisation where your work genuinely contributes to the future of sustainable energy.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for major transmission infrastructure projects across our network, ensuring all engineering activities are planned effectively and executed safely.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors and operational staff to manage project timelines, identify potential conflicts or resource constraints, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Work closely with project managers and technical specialists to translate complex technical requirements into practical, achievable schedules that account for outages, workstreams and resource availability.
  • Monitor progress against planned schedules, identifying deviations early and working proactively with stakeholders to implement corrective actions and maintain project momentum.
  • Use your technical knowledge to understand the complexities of transmission projects and make informed decisions on scheduling priorities, dependencies and constraints.
  • Provide regular updates to project teams and senior management on schedule status, risks and opportunities, ensuring clear communication across all levels.
  • Maintain accurate scheduling records and documentation, ensuring information is up to date, accessible and aligned with quality standards.

What you'll bring

  • Significant experience within heavy industrial environments such as utilities, power generation, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, or wider infrastructure sectors, providing the practical knowledge needed to coordinate complex engineering activities.
  • An HNC in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical qualification, providing the foundational knowledge to understand engineering principles and communicate effectively with technical teams.
  • Proven experience in project scheduling or planning, ideally using industry-standard scheduling software to manage detailed project plans and critical paths.
  • The ability to manage multiple concurrent activities across different sites and teams, recognising dependencies and potential conflicts before they impact delivery.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, essential for managing complex schedules with many interrelated elements and ensuring nothing is overlooked.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including engineers, contractors and operational staff.
  • Confidence presenting schedule information clearly and concisely, and facilitating discussions to resolve scheduling conflicts or other complex situations.
  • A methodical approach to work, ensuring stakeholders have the information they need, when they need it.
  • A full UK driving licence, as occasional travel across the SP Energy Networks transmission area will be required.
