Mechanical Engineer Summer 2025 Intern

Summary/Primary Role

The Mechanical Engineer Summer 2025 Interns will be assisting the engineering team with drafting geothermal plans and details in AutoDesk’s AutoCAD and Revit. They will be setting up energy models in Excel for the engineering team’s use in geothermal modeling. Their responsibilities will include reviewing and improving upon geothermal sizing calculators, as well as taking meeting minutes when needed.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and detailing geothermal plans using AutoDesk’s AutoCAD.
• Develop and refine designs in Revit for geothermal projects.
• Set up and maintain energy models in Excel to support geothermal modeling.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure accurate and effective energy model data.
• Research equipment and consumable cut sheets.
• Utilize GIS infrastructure database Collaborate with Origination, Account Management and Marketing on outreach efforts for new geothermal clients.
• Provide additional day to day administrative support to the BD Analysts to move the projects to closure.
• Take detailed meeting minutes during engineering team discussions and project meetings as required.
• Assist with general administrative tasks related to geothermal projects
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Must be a Rising Senior with a strong academic record at a New York university or college.
• Must reside in the State of NY.
• Pursuing a degree in Engineering or related field with a GPA of 3.50 or above.
• To be considered for this internship, candidates must provide an unofficial academic transcript detailing their current coursework and GPA.
• Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and research.
• Self-motivated and excited to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
• Flexibility and willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Superior work ethic and attention to detail.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

Expected Hours of Work

An Intern must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours each week to maintain full-time status, however the expectations of the position will require an average of forty (40) hours as scheduled for an 8-week internship program beginning in June 2025. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining an employee’s base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity). The hourly rate for this position is $17.00 per hour.

Office/Remote Work Guidelines

Recognizing the success of remote work, Brightcore operates in a hybrid model. Eligible employees will have the option to work remotely for two (2) days per week at their discretion, with final approval by their direct supervisor. This policy is subject to change at Brightcore's discretion.
