Research Associate - Environmental Monitoring
The International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology (iFOREST), is looking for young professionals to support the organisation's research in the Industrial Decabonisation programme.
The Industrial Decarbonization Programmme
The Industrial Decarbonization Programme is a part of iFOREST's flagship initiative on Enabling Energy Transitions. The objective of the programme is to steer a green industry transition to support green growth and green jobs, while improving local environmental conditions and achieving climate goals. The focus is on conducing evidence-based research, including modelling studies to develop comprehensive roadmaps, identify policy solutions and provide technical support for industrial decarbonisation in sectors like steel, fertilizer, cement, bricks and at-risk MSME sectors, as a transition in these sectors will affect the largest number of consumers and enterprises.
The Programme is strongly focused on technical research and stakeholder engagement (especially with government departments/agencies and the industry) to achieve a green transition of fossil fuel-dependent factories that are associated with various industries.
About the Role & Responsibilities
The successful candidate would be responsible for supporting the execution of research for the Industrial Decarbonization Programme. The comprehensive set of tasks required for leading and executing impactful research and engagement work in this context would broadly entail:
- Support research projects.
- Undertake primary and secondary research along with team members.
This will include: a. Conducting onsite-environment monitoring, analysis and reporting- stack emission, ambient air quality, water quality b. Collecting information and generating data through primary surveys. c. Conducting secondary research d. Data collection and analysis. 3. Contribute to preparing research reports, policy briefs, and technical documents. 4. Develop presentations for the dissemination of research findings. 5. Support in organizing conferences, meetings, and workshops. 6. Support communication and outreach to the team. 7. Any other task as per team and programme requirements
Required/Relevant Degrees
Bachelors or master's in environmental engineering, environmental Science and relevant field
Required Skills & Competencies
- Experience in industrial pollution monitoring & analysis- Stack emission, Ambient air quality and water quality, etc.
- Understanding of industrial operation, pollution monitoring and compliance, monitoring equipment, technology and use.
- Knowledge of Lab-based environmental testing, analysis and reporting.
- Experience in survey research and analysis.
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative research, analysis, and delivery of outputs.
- Experience in report writing, particularly in research context.
- Should be open to travel as per the requirement.
- Commitment to deadline-driven work and ability to manage time and priorities.
