Job Description

Location: Preference will be given to those who can be on-site in our corporate headquarters in Allen, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth area) but will also consider remote candidates, with regular travel to headquarters in Texas.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will lead Sol-Ark’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I) product portfolio, with full ownership of product performance from concept through commercialization. This includes defining strategy, aligning cross-functional execution, and managing the financial health of the portfolio, including pricing, cost structure, margin targets, and long-term profitability.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, marketing, and executive stakeholders to deliver high-impact energy solutions that are reliable, scalable, and financially viable. This is a foundational role where strategic thinking, technical fluency, and business acumen converge to shape the future of Sol-Ark’s next-generation energy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product portfolio end-to-end: Define and manage the roadmap for C&I systems, ensuring alignment with customer needs, field feedback, market dynamics, and company strategy.
  • Vendor and partner development oversight: Act as the primary interface between Sol-Ark and third-party vendors/manufacturers. Translate internal requirements into detailed specifications and manage vendor execution to ensure product delivery, quality, and continuous alignment with roadmap objectives.
  • Drive field-informed improvements: Collaborate closely with Field Application Engineers and installation teams to gather feedback from real-world deployments. Use these insights to identify design improvements and turn them into structured development plans for external partners.
  • Manage technical partnerships for fleet performance: Coordinate with third-party software and analytics partners responsible for telemetry, remote monitoring, and energy optimization of the inverter fleet. Ensure these partners meet performance, integration, and data quality standards while aligning with Sol-Ark’s product roadmap and customer expectations.
  • Communicate improvement roadmap externally: Create and maintain a clear roadmap for iterative product improvements. Communicate this roadmap and associated priorities to vendors and manufacturers to guide ongoing development and quality improvements.
  • Own portfolio financial performance: Drive P&L accountability with dynamic pricing, margin analysis, and cost controls. Respond to performance signals with actionable tactics to sustain growth and maximize long-term product profitability.
  • Leverage data to drive action: Use product analytics, customer insights, and market data to identify opportunities, diagnose performance issues, and inform strategic decisions across pricing, roadmap, and go-to-market.
  • Balance trade-offs: Manage scope, dependencies, and risks while facilitating timely, data-informed decision-making with cross-functional teams.
  • Champion the user experience: Work directly with installers, technicians, and field teams to ensure solutions meet real-world constraints and workflows.
  • Act as cross-functional glue: Serve as the strategic interface between technical and commercial teams, keeping timelines, deliverables, and risks aligned.
  • Continuous improvement: Stay current on product management best practices, energy industry shifts, and compliance landscapes to elevate product thinking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years in product management or technical program management, ideally in renewable energy, power electronics, automation, or cleantech.
  • End-to-end experience launching complex hardware products, including requirements, prototyping, compliance testing (UL, FCC, CSA), and scaling production.
  • Strong technical fluency in multidisciplinary systems: inverters, batteries, power conversion, embedded controls, and mechanical design, especially for high-power and large-scale C&I applications > 50kW.
  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage, high-current systems and power platforms deployed in commercial and industrial-scale energy projects.
  • Working knowledge of relevant certifications and safety standards: UL 1741, UL 9540/9540A, IEEE 1547, NEC, NFPA 855, etc.
  • Experience designing products for industrial users, balancing complexity, usability, and reliability in field environments.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, marketing, and compliance teams.
  • Proficient in data-informed product decision-making, leveraging modern tools (AI-driven research, analytics dashboards, and rapid prototyping) to drive clarity, alignment, and measurable outcomes across the product lifecycle.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and hardware supply chains, including DFM, cost optimization, and quality control.
  • Familiarity with energy management systems (EMS), DERMS, or VPP platforms, and how hardware integrates into software ecosystems.
  • Hands-on experience with field deployments, pilot programs, or customer co-development processes.
  • Understanding of grid interconnection standards, utility incentive programs (SGIP, ITC), and regulatory frameworks (Rule 21, IEEE 1547.1).

Benefits

Salary and Benefits: We offer a competitive salary and performance-based bonus program, top-tier benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.
